Selena The Series

Created by Netflix, Selena the Series takes viewers down the road and life of the late Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla. The show not only shows Selena’s life but her family. We are witnesses of heartfelt moments with Selena’s sister Suzy and a fan. We see A.B.’s marriage, and we experience the major events and growth in Selena’s life. The show stars Christian Serratos (The Walking Dead) as Selena, Gabriel Chavarria (East Los High) as A.B., Ricardo Chavira (Desperate Housewives) as Abraham, Noemi Gonzalez (East Los High) as Suzette, and Seidy Lopez (American Family). A stellar cast brings to life this heartbreaking, but inspiring story of Selena Quintanilla.

Tiny Pretty Things is a Netflix original show about an elite ballet academy. The drama is a murder mystery filled with sex, betrayal, and a hunger for the spotlight. The Queens Gambit

The Queens Gambit is a mini-series about an orphaned girl who masters the game of chess. This dramatic series is based on a 1983 novel by Walter Tevis. The young woman, Beth Harmon, deals with drugs and alcohol while on the rise to the top of the chess game world. If you are in the mood for drama, a female lead, and a story full of emotion, this is the mini-series for you.


Julie and The Phantoms

This Netflix original series is a recreation of the Brazilian show Julie e os Fantasmas. The show centers around Julie (Madison Reyes) whose passion for singing and songwriting has been put aside when a tragic loss occurs. Julie’s love for music is revived when four dead musicians are accidentally brought back by Julie 25 years after their passing. Julie teams up with the musicians to create amazing music and help assist the boys in making music. Unfortunately, there is always trouble lurking around the corner, and the boys need Julies help. Julie and the Phantoms is a musical treat wrapped in a great coming of age. Adults and children will love this series.

Alexa & Katie is a Netflix original show centered around a girl named Alexa who has cancer. The story follows Alexa and her best friend, Katie. They navigate high school and all it has to offer while trying to adjust to Alexa’s scary and unfair reality of being a young girl trying to survive cancer and stay in remission. High school is never easy, add in cancer, amazing actors, and you have an inspiring story. Laugh, cry, and believe in true friendship when you watch Alexa & Katie.

Mr. Iglesias

Mr. Iglesias is a Netflix Original show starring the comedian Gabriel Iglesias (Fluffy). The show puts Iglesias as a high school History teacher at his alma mater.  Iglesias brings the comedy, but also touches on issues that most everyone can relate. Relationships, addiction, and divorced parents are just a few subjects mentioned in the show. Iglesias has a class mixed with gifted and misguided teens that he takes under his wings. He instills positivity and the ability to dream big. He believes in his students and his students believe in him. It is both funny and touching scenarios presented to the viewers by Gabriel Iglesias, Sherri Shepherd, Jacob Vargas, and Maggie Geha, With a talented cast like this it’s a must see feel good comedy series to binge. 


Little Fires Everywhere

Little Fires Everywhere is a Hulu Original series and based on a book by Celeste Ng. Little Fires Everywhere stars Reese Witherspoon, Joshua Jackson, and Kerry Washington. A mother and daughter cause a stir in the picture of perfection Richardson family’s lives. Drama, emotional, and engaging, this show will make viewers think, feel, and want more. If you are in the mood for all the soap opera feels, this is it!

Looking for Alaska

This show is based on a John Green novel by the same name. The show focuses on a young boy named Miles. Miles is fixated on people’s last dying words. His parents are a bit overprotective but allow him to attend a camp where he makes new friends, one in particular, by the name Alaska. Alaska appears to be a troubled girl, and she struggles with emotions. She and Miles form a close relationship until the unthinkable tragedy happens. The show, while centered around teenagers, falls under the mature audience category.


East Los High

East Los High is a Hulu original show starring Gabriel Chavarria, Danielle Vega, and Alicia Sixtos. East Los High centers around a group of teenagers growing up in East Los Angeles. The show touches on sex, drugs, alcohol, and teenage pregnancy. While the show has a heavy drama presence, it also has some comedic moments. The group of friends participates in school activities such as the Bomb Squad, a dance team.
The group faces hardships, deportation, drugs, sex, and more. East Los High is not just a teen drama; it has heavy Latino influences. East Los High is a great show that keeps you on your toes.

Saved by the Bell Reboot

Saved by the Bell is a beloved 1990’s show. Peacock rebooted the show using some of the same cast members and a cameo by others. The show focuses on the next generation at Bayside High School. We follow the students at Bayside who happen to be a mix of the offspring of fellow Bayside students Zach, Kelly, and Jessie. Mario Lopez reprises his role as AC Slater while Elizabeth Berkley plays Jessie Spano. Mark-Paul Gosselaar continues his role as Zach and Tiffani Thiessen plays Kelly. What is so great about this show is that it embraces diversity. Many ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations are represented in the show.
