How To Throw A Galentine’s Party For Your Best Gals

I know that Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, but to me, this has no bearing on when you could celebrate Galentine’s Day!  As an avid Parks and Rec fan, I’ve thrown three, about to be four, Galentine’s shindigs, and plan to continue the tradition for the foreseeable future.  There are many ways to personalize your party to your crew, but all true Galentine’s have a few key staples. Check out my suggestions on how to throw a Galentine’s party below!

1. Determine your location

Are your girls brunch people? Lay out types? Or stay in at someone’s house in your sweats types? Let what you enjoy doing together dictate your special day together! Just because Leslie Knope took her ladies to breakfast at JJ’s doesn’t mean you must brave the brunch crowd, especially if you are night owls who prefer a quiet wine bar.

2. The menu

Part of the beauty of being with your ladies, sans men, is eating and drinking as much as you want without worry about what you look like while stuffing your face, or afterward, when you feel that food baby gut! My ladies and I prefer to eat traditional brunch food and mimosas, but feel free to partake in whatever you and yours prefer!  Wine and fondue is an equally amazing choice, but if your crew is more pizza and beer- plan a craft beer tasting with your favorite deep dish. The menu is key when learning how to throw a Galentine’s party.

3. The outfits

If you are celebrating your love for each other, why not dress the part? Wear matching T-shirts, maxi dresses, or PJ’s. No lie, once my best girls and I got matching animal print onesies for our Galentine’s shindig.

4. Gifts

The reason for the season: celebrating your best ladies! It doesn’t have to be anything large or extravagant, just a small, sentimental token to show what they mean to you. In my group, this could be a bottle of champagne, a pedi date, or just a sweet framed photo of us to display. Either way, we like to do something to make memories- and continue to make them all year long.

Anything else you prefer to do to celebrate you best gal pals? Share them with me in the comments!  We’ll be doing our Galentine’s later this spring, so your idea may just show up at our party!
