College101: How To Stay Safe At A College Party

Everyone college student knows that partying is a huge part of the appeal of college. Although the endless parties at college can be fun, its only fun if everyone make sit home safely at the end of each party. Make sure you are able to recall a tonne of college parties with these tips on how to stay safe at a college party.

Safety In Numbers

Gather your crew and get ready for a big night! Not only is any party more fun when you have all your friends in one room, but its also safer! Make sure whenever you are going and leaving from a party you are not doing it alone. The more friends that you arrive with the more chance you have that at least one of them would like to leave at the same time that you will. At any point of the party make sure you are with at least one person that you know and feel comfortable with. Friends look after friends! If this is your first college party or you are not quite a seasoned veteran at the whole college party thing, that safest bet would be to travel with the ‘mum’ of your group. This will always ensure that you are looked after. If you don’t think your group has a designated ‘mum’ it may be you. If that is the case, get ready to hold some hair back!

Know Your Surroundings

Make sure that you know what kind of party you are going to. Whether its a house party, a paddock party or a club, make sure you know what kind of surroundings you will be experiencing. If you know roughly what kind of area you will be in, you will know what to expect and you won’t feel as out of place. This way you will know how to make a quick exit if needed.

Have A Plan

Your tipsy self won’t be able to make an important decision like, how you are getting home so make sure you have a plan set in place before you take your first shot of the night. Make sure you have a designated driver, a group to take an uber or taxi with, or another plan. If you organise how you are getting to and from the party before you go, you will have nothing to worry about while you party the night away. This will make sure that you enjoy every second of your night with no stresses on your mind. Remember! If it is seeming impossible to line up a ride home or a ride to the party,  maybe that is the universe’s way of telling you that you should give this particular party a miss. This is a great way to ensure you stay safe at any college party.

Have Fun!

Remember to have fun BUT in a safe way. Know your limits, there is no worse feeling than waking up the next morning and not remembering what happened the night before. Or worse, remembering what happened and having regret about any decision you may have made. So to make sure you have fun be smart, don’t drink too much or too fast, and don’t do anything that you are not 100% comfortable with. Trust me, I can speak from experience when I say if you are feeling pressure to do something that you may not necessarily want to, don’t give in! Not one single person who may be pressuring you will remember that you didn’t give in to the pressure the next day. So don’t stress just walk away and act cool!
