How to Perfectly Master the Makeup No Makeup Look

[dropcap size=big]A[/dropcap s a girl who has been confidently wearing makeup since the 9th grade, I can say that I have picked up some tips and tricks along the way. One important thing that I can say that I have learned through my experience is that less is always more. You always want to use makeup to accentuate your natural features and maybe cover that blemish you don’t like. God gave you your face and features for a reason so there’s nothing wrong with wanting to flatter them with a little something extra! I find that keeping it light is a way better alternative to caking makeup on anyways because you can always tell when you’ve piled on 7 layers of concealer under your eyes, which instantly ages you. Keep reading on how to find out how to perfectly achieve the no-makeup makeup look and maintain long-lasting, flawless makeup.

Always Prep with Skincare

Skincare is the first thing you should be doing in your routine before you even think about putting on makeup. Skincare is the most important step in your makeup routine. The reason why is because however your skin looks, is how your makeup will look. Whenever my makeup is glowing, I can always credit my skincare.

Many people have different variations with how they wash their face, but ultimately it is just about doing the routine that works best for your skin. Now, this post isn’t exactly about skincare, but I can always enthusiastically give the advice that a gentle cleanser is always the best route!

For glowy and smooth makeup, everyone knows you have to have a good base. Voila, this is where another beneficial and another important part of your skincare routine comes in. I’m talking about your moisturizer. There’s really no rocket science to choosing moisturizers either, just choose one that works best for your skin. However, if you are someone who likes sporting a dewier makeup look and have dry skin like me, maybe go for a thicker moisturizer, especially in the winter. I do have drier skin, but I would be lying if I said one of my favorite moisturizers ever wasn’t lightweight and oil-free! (I’ll link it down below). As I said before, you know what works best for your skin, so always trust your judgment.

Last but not least, never ever forget your sunscreen! No matter what season, you should be using at least an Spf 30 daily and realying every two hours!

Tinted Moisturizer

Ok, so now we can actually get into the makeup part. My personal favorite is the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue. It is clean, lightweight, and hydrating for if you want a dewy skin look! I don’t always want to wear foundation and sometimes I want my skin to have more of a natural look, essentially in the summer. Like I said before, sunscreen is always a must in your routine during any time of year. This one is definitely equipped with spf and so are a lot of other tinted moisturizers!

This look still can be achieved with foundation, with the right blending techniques, of course. If I want to go really natural, I like to apply the Tinted Moisturizer with my fingers and blend it out that way.

Add in some Color and Glow!

This is probably my favorite step in my whole entire makeup routine. Not only is it fun, it can add more fun color and glow into your face!

Blush – Blush is definitely a must when trying to achieve the natural makeup look! You definitely want to opt for some light or natural looking colors such as peach or pink. If you are darker skin, you can choose colors such as crimson or still go with peach! My favorite blush is the Elf monochromatic blush, which also gives you some shimmer as well. One of my favorite blush tricks is in addition to placing it on my cheekbones, I like to also place some on my nose and eyelids to give me more of a natural and flushed look!

Highlighter – They key with highlighter is also, less is more. I personally like liquid or jelly highlighters because they give you more of a dewy look. You can apply the highlighter to your nose bridge, inner eye corners, and cheekbones to bring out your features even more!

Skip the False Lashes

For this one, you’re going to need to skip the falsies. Don’t get me wrong. You can still achieve a no makeup look with false lashes, but the key is to barely look like you did anything extra to your face. You want it to look effortless.

You want to choose lengthening mascaras that give a boost to your natural lashes. Loreal and Maybelline have some of my favorite ones!

For length, I like to use the Loreal Telescopic Mascara. Just a few swipes and layers, and you’re good to go!

For more or a lifting look, I can honestly swear by the Maybelline Lash sensational Mascara. I have very curly lashes, but I still would be lying if I said this wasn’t one of the greatest voluminous mascaras that I’ve ever used.

Less Concealer is more

There are many different concealer hacks on TikTok. With this natural look, overall, you want to remember that less concealer is more. With concealer, remember, you always want to choose one that is a couple of shades lighter than your face. For this step, you can apply a little concealer to your inner eye corner and blend. Then, apply some to the outer edge of your eye for more of a lifted look and get to blending!

Use the Right Brush Techniques

This step is going to ultimately determine how your makeup turns out. There are foundation brushes that you can use, which can blend your makeup to perfection. However, if you want to achieve an even more natural look then you should definitely use a beauty blender!

For preparation, you can wet the beauty blender with setting spray, or water, just make sure it’s damp. Then, blend out your makeup. I assure you, you will be so impressed by the flawless finish!

Just remember, the no makeup look usually provides little to softer coverage. You can still do this look if you’re someone who wants a heavier coverage, but just don’t forget to color correct wherever needed!
