How To Get Tan Without Causing Skin Damage

Now that summer is here, having a tan is all of the rave! But, how to get tan without causing skin damage? Now that is the question. Sure you could lay outside, lathered in tanning oil, checking your phones weather app for the UV index to make sure you are getting the right amount of rays to get you the ultimate tan. Or you could be doing it without even going outside and lay down in a tanning bed. You skin is the largest organ your body has. It is your shell. It is one of the major aspects of your physical make up that makes you, you! So why does it seem like we don’t take care of it to the best of our ability? If you want to know how to get tan, but keep your skin healthy and radiant keep reading!

1. Self tanner

Of course! This is one of the most common solutions when it comes to you wanting to know how to get tan without the UV rays. This comes in so many different forms from foam to mist. No matter what, you are going to get tan, and instantly. The first and most important thing that you need to do before you even think about applying self tanner to your skin is exfoliate! Whether you buy an exfoliating wash or you create one yourself at home, rub on an organic  (or in other words nothing with micro-beads. We don’t need to kill the environment or our skin) scrub all over your body to make sure you are smooth and have no rough patches that the self planner will collect on and, in turn, look splotchy. Once you apply an even layer on your body make sure to wash your hands and toes. No one needs those fake tan lines!!

2. Tinted Sunscreen

Tinted sunscreen is one of the most underrated products out there. You are basically putting a tinted glow on you, just like self tanner, but protecting your skin by lathering on the sunscreen. Granted this is not a solution that involves no sun at all, but it definitely is going to help you figure out how to get a tan without causing skin damage. Well, to a degree at least. Out of all of these options, this one is the most likely to cause you skin damage. Here’s why. Even though you are lathering on pounds of sun screen, you are obviously subjecting yourself to the sun’s rays. You do this every time you step outside. That mean’s when it is a 90 degree summer day or a cloudy day. You are being exposed to the sun and are subject to skin damage. But when it comes to how to get a tan, it seems like you cannot get tan when you are wearing regular sun screen. With tinted sunscreen, you can get tan, lay out which is going to help get you more tan, and you will be protecting your skin thanks to the sunscreen!

3. Spray tan

Getting a spray tan is a super common way to get tan without stepping foot outside. It is a bit more expensive than self tanner and it only lasts a little while, but when it is done right? You are going to look damn good. The key to this is to start small. If you have never had a spray tan before you should be easing into the process. You do not want to be too dark, because more than likely, rather than looking too dark you are going to be looking orange. And no body wants that. One way to ensure your spray tan looks good, is rather than stepping into a machine that is going to make you tan. Try an airbrush tan! This is a bit different because it is a person actually air brushing that tan on your skin. This makes some people uncomfortable because if you choose to do your air brush tan naked, you are naked in front of a stranger! Tan lines are super sexy though, so throw on some old undies or an old bikini you don’t care about, and get that spray tan!

4. Natural glow moisturizer

Tanning moisturizer is similar to self tanner, however, rather than looking tan instantly or over a day or three, this is going to get you that tan over time. And it is going to keep your skin hydrated! This is a great solution to consider while you are wondering how to get tan. This is the best solution because of the build up of your tan over time. Just like a natural tan from outside! If you ease into the tan, it seems much more natural. It makes it seem as though you are just gaining a tan as you spend time outside rather than the moisturizer you put on each day. Get your skin healthy, radiant, and glowing!

5. Bronzing powder

Makeup is a great way to get a tan quick and easy! Bronzing powder was made for this and news flash! It is not just for your face. You can use this to define other points on your body. One of the best places to use it other than your face? The girls. Defining your breasts and collar bones with bronzing powder is going to make you not only tan on your face but on your chest as well. This is the crucial way of how to get a tan without using any product. And it just washes off at the end of every night! Just apply some bronzer onto the highest points of your face, just where the sun would hit! Then apply it to your neck, ears, chest, and even shoulders! Just throw that bronzing powder on in any way you can and you will be a glowing god or goddess!

6. Cocoa and lotion

Unlike the other ways to get yourself that tan, this is a bit more of a DIY way that is going to teach you how to get tan. All you need is some cocoa powder and whatever regular body lotion you typically use. This is also great to use when you find a spot in your spray tan or self tanner that you missed! You can just patch that light spot right up or you can spread it all over your body! Make sure that this is pure cocoa with no sugar, otherwise you’re in for a sticky mess. All you have to do is get a bowl and pump that lotion into the bowl. Toss a few tablespoons of the powder into the lotion and stir it until there is no powder left, but the concoction is a brown color. Try some on your hand and see if you like the shade! Just keep adding lotion and/or cocoa until you get your desired shade and voila! You have created your own self tanner!
