How to Dress Professional (and Still Look Cute)

Dressing professional while still looking cute is a tricky thing for many college girls. You want to look fashionable in a business setting, but there’s a fine line between dressing for success and committing a horrible fashion faux pas at the office. Although every office or work place is different, here are some tips to looking cute but professional from 9 to 5.

Stay Away from Too Sexy

First, you should never wear something too revealing or sexy. In other words, don’t show a ton of cleavage or wear a skirt or dress that is way too short. If you do want to wear a shorter skirt or dress, wear tights with it so the hemline isn’t as noticeable. This is a great way to still rock the skirt you love without it looking too risque. Another way to avoid this mistake is to wear a cute cami under a shirt that has a plunging neckline – a subtle way to cover up without looking frumpy.

Always Say Yes to Blazers

Another way to look more professional without revealing too much or looking too dressed up is to throw on a blazer. This fashionable item can add instant polish to any look! Seriously. Paired with jeans? Classic. Over a pencil skirt and blouse? Tres chic. On top of that form-fitting bodycon dress? Oh-so sophisticated.

Fit is Key

Whether you opt for pants and a blouse, skirt and top, or a dress – finding items with the right fit is essential to pulling off a professional look. If you don an outfit that’s too big – you’ll end up looking frumpy and unpolished. But if you gravitate towards items that are a bit too small – you could end up looking a little too sexy (or just plain uncomfortable). A pair of skinny black ankle pants are great for any professional wardrobe. They’re not as dressy as a pantsuit but can be dressed up in other ways, while still allowing you to dress for your age. You can pair them with a cute blouse or a nice black blazer.

Details Matter

Finally, you can always have fun with accessories to add a little pop to your wardrobe, but still look professional. Shoes and jewelry are a great way to spice up your look and show off your personality. Pair a brighter statement necklace or a bold shoe with a plain outfit to give it fun and younger vibe.
