2. Coffee

If you ever feel like you need a little extra zing or energy power in your after lunch sweet treat, then this ice cream is for you. If you wanted to make it exude even more coffee flavor, you could add chocolate-covered espresso beans or cocoa nibs. This ice cream also would be a great base for adding caramel or chocolate syrup into the mix to make it taste just like your favorite Starbucks frappuccino. You could also blend this ice up with some milk to make your own cheaper frappuccinos. Or you could add a scoop into your cup of coffee to make a “coffee float” and really amp up your morning, afternoon, or night if you have tons to do. You could, of course, also make this ice cream with decaffeinated coffee as well.

3. Strawberry

What could be a better ice cream flavor for the summer months than strawberry flavored? This iconic ice cream flavor is fruity, juicy, and creamy all at once. I think due to all of these aspects it just reminds a lot of people of summer; it really is so nostalgic. Strawberries with cream and strawberry shortcake are delectable desserts that many adore and this ice cream flavor would be amazing to incorporate into those desserts or to mix up your dessert repertoire if you have strawberries with cream or strawberry shortcake often.

4. Cookies and Cream

Cookies and cream is another one of these homemade ice cream recipes that will never get old. It’s not only popular because of sandwich cookies like Oreo’s, but because the flavor is delicious and timeless. The slight bitterness from the chocolate cookies will always compliment the cream filling the cookies are accompanied with. This definite fact also makes this cookie a favorite and obvious mix in for an ice cream flavor. With this ice cream flavor even inspiring elaborate cakes, milkshakes, pies, and ice cream cakes it seems like it would be the perfect flavor for anyone to know how to make. Be sure to stock up on some Oreo’s on your next grocery store outing!

5. Sherbet

When it comes to ice cream, most think of warm weather and summer days. What goes great with warm weather and summer days? Delicious fruit of course. But, what would make that delicious, in-season fruit even better? Turn it into a glorious, frozen treat perfect for those scorching afternoons. This “ice cream” option is also perfect for those who are allergic to milk or are vegan since it does not contain dairy. So, to all those who might have trouble finding the perfect cold snack for summertime, then this one has your names all over it. You can, of course, make sherbet with any kind of fruit and even numerous fruits to make an even more unique flavor. When it comes to fruitness, in terms of frozen treats and summer, you can never go too far.

6. Mint Chocolate Chip

For a flavor that will leave a cool zing on your tongue, go for the mint chocolate chip. It’s the perfect snack for after dinner since the mint flavor settles the stomach and cleanses the palate. At least that’s what I constantly tell myself when I go an get a big bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream. It’s my favorite flavor of ice cream besides classic vanilla, so it will always have a special place in my heart and I will never turn it down. I also never feel too bogged down after I eat this ice cream flavor. I guess it’s just the coolness of the mint coupled with the “healthier” dark chocolate. Again, maybe this is just what I tell myself to justify eating more ice cream.

7. Cookie Dough

Is it just me, or are the cookie dough bites the best thing about this kind of ice cream? Make sure you use some good cookie dough for this ice cream flavor because you will just end up picking all of it out first because you won’t be able to help yourself. Again, this might just be me. I really do have a soft place for sweets, particularly ice cream. You could use whatever ice cream base you want for this style of ice cream, with french vanilla being the most common. But, all of the cookie dough and delectable chocolate chips are what make this flavor really shine.

8. Peanut Butter Cup

Peanut butter cups are my favorite candies of all time and I can’t imagine not putting them on this list of homemade ice cream recipes. You’ll get a better development of flavor with the peanut butter and chocolate in those perfect bit sized pieces. It also would be great to mix in some peanut butter sauce or fudge into the ice cream for some even more amazing flavor combinations. I love that you can use whatever flavor you like so this kind of ice cream is versatile. However, I would say my vote for the best peanut butter cup ice cream base would be either vanilla or chocolate. But I really don’t think you could go wrong ever with peanut butter cups.
