Finding what works well with your skin can feel like it’s a never ending chore. DIY skin care is worth giving a chance.  Instead of spending money on skincare that might not even do the job, see what works well with your skin type using these homemade face masks.

Turmeric And Honey

A mixture of 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric and 1 tablespoon of honey can be a lifesaver. This is my go-to homemade face mask right now and is amazing for people who struggle with inflammation. Honey’s antioxidants, antiseptic and antibacterial properties work wonders for getting rid of acne.

If you have trouble dealing with redness on your face, this mask can be a game changer. It is even said that turmeric and honey can help with eczema and rosacea. There are so many benefits when mixing turmeric and honey together– you really can’t go wrong!

If you struggle with keeping your skin hydrated this mask can help with that as well. Honey is great for opening pores, hydrating, and getting rid of those annoying blackheads. Turmeric is also a natural antiseptic, making sure bacteria doesn’t spread. This mask can keep your acne under control, hydrate your skin, and reduce redness and inflammation.

Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Oatmeal

After boiling oats like you normally would if you were making them for breakfast, leave them to cool before applying them to your face. Make sure there is no sugar added into the mix. Oats contain antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties so this mask is great for fighting acne and leaving your skin smooth and glowing.

Oats are great at absorbing oils so if you tend to have oily skin this is the mask for you. Leave this mask on for 20-30 minutes to really let it work its magic. You can add a few drops of tea tree oil or some turmeric to get compound results. This mask is also great if you get sunburn due to its soothing properties.

Greek Yogurt

For this mask you’ll need 1 tablespoon greek yogurt, 1 teaspoon of oats, and 1 teaspoon of honey. This mask is great for dull, dry skin. When these ingredients are mixed together it makes for a highly beneficial face mask. This homemade face mask is cooling and will leave your face looking refreshed and dewy!

Greek yogurt is loaded with lactic acid and probiotics making this mask perfect for anyone looking to make their skin softer and healthier. The oats and honey add acne fighting power along with anti-inflammatory properties.  Al this plus the ability to reduce redness? You better try this mask ASAP!

Aloe Vera

This mask has two simple ingredients: 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel and a drop of tea tree oil. This mask helps significantly with acne breakouts. If you suddenly find yourself gaining a bunch of unwanted friends on your face, this is the mask you need to try!

Tea tree oil alone is great for fighting against acne, but add aloe into the mix and you get hydration and the power to calm irritation. This mask works best on surface acne and helps you avoid breakouts in the future. Apply on clean dry skin and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Rinse and make sure to add a little moisturizer after.

Charcoal And Gelatin

6 activated charcoal capsules, 2 tablespoons water, and two teaspoons of unflavored gelatin make for a wonderful mask to remove blackheads. This mask is somewhat like common pore strips, but is much gentler and still gets the job done. The activated charcoal pulls dirt and oil from your pores, leaving you with a much cleaner and healthier face. Charcoal also works to brighten and clear skin of impurities.

It is recommended to use this mask only on your nose or places on your face that aren’t too sensitive. The mask should dry and give you the ability to peel it off, taking your unwanted dirt and oil with it. Leave the mask on until it is completely dry and rinse the area with warm water afterwards.

Matcha Green Tea Powder

1 teaspoon of matcha green tea powder mixed with 2 tablespoons of fresh aloe leave your skin moisturized and redness reduced. Matcha is a great anti-inflammatory and is amazing for anyone who needs to get rid of any unflattering redness. This mask can help you achieve that even skin tone you’ve been trying to make happen! It is also known to help with irritated skin due to sunburn or rosacea.

If you enjoy a nice cool mask like me, stick your mixture into the freezer for a couple minutes before applying a generous amount. 15-20 minutes is all this mask needs to work its magic. Rinse with warm water and apply some moisturizer after washing with your usual cleanser.

Turmeric And Yogurt

Turmeric and yogurt, when paired together, can make for an almost magical homemade face mask. A single teaspoon of turmeric powder mixed with 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt is all you need for this concoction. If you are looking to brighten your skin and get rid of unwanted acne scars you might want to give this mask a try. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory and has brightening properties, making this mask a lifesaver for those with troubled skin.

Adding in yogurt or olive oil acts as a buffer since turmeric can temporarily stain your skin if used alone. This mask can also prevent you from getting more acne in the future thanks to the turmeric working its magic to kill microorganisms. Cooling this mask for a couple minutes in the freezer also creates a relaxing sensation when applied. Apply this face mask and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. After washing it off, use you usual face cleanser and apply a moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated.
