High Fashion Brands That Come From Italy

These Italian brands come from Europe, Italy to be exact and they are some of the most well-known luxury brands in the world that we all have heard about at least once in our lifetimes. A few of these high fashion brands have been around for over 100 years making them a very important part of the fashion industry. Today, there are many brands that have sprung from Italy contributing to the world we live in.

1. Dolce & Gabbana

The couture house began in 1985 and was founded in Milan when Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana met. The relationship between these two men began when they first met in Legnano, Italy at a fashion house they both designed at. Shortly after forming their relationship through work, they both decided to open up a consulting studio in Milan where it soon became known as Dolce & Gabbana. The brand has rapidly built up an impressive reputation and has gotten the attention of many big names in today’s history. Dolce & Gabbana tends to focus on a more Mediterranean spectrum that involves many prints and refreshing styles that just pop when styles together. The colors that this high fashion house incorporates into their work revolve around every single detail of the piece making it very unique like no other brand. As they continue to provide excellence and perfectionism as they live up to, it is safe to say that they will continue to thrive. 

2. Gucci

All the way from Florence, Italy to the United States, Gucci has become one of the most mainstream high fashion brands out there. From the Rapper Gucci with an Ice Cream tattoo on his face to fashion shows with some of the most recognized models in the world, Gucci has surely ensured that it will not be going anywhere anytime soon. It goes back to 1921 when Guccio Gucci first founded the brand with the first-ever store in Via Vigna Nuova and then later on Via Del Parione. During the 1950s and 60s, after the war, Gucci became well known for its handbag that featured the iconic bamboo handles, and by that time Frida Giannini was the new creative director, and soon after that everyone wanted one, even Princess Diana. Over the last few years, we have seen Gucci blossom into a more eclectic and romantic keen of style and recently they have decided to twist things up a little bit and involve some religion focusing on childlike school uniforms.

3. Fendi

 Like the Queen of Rap, Mrs. Nicki Minaj once said “Fendi prints on” soon followed with a full collection worth over 10 million dollars. Fendi has grown and became a part of the LVMH parent organization that stands for LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, who happen to be the world’s leaders in luxury but they have climbed up from where they originally began. Dating back to 1925 when it opened its first-ever little boutique via del Plebiscito, Roma became an instant success that has placed this high fashion label all throughout the world. The brand is heavy with its logos making it very distinguishable from other brands but when it comes to the runway, Fendi has fun and brings the colors to its fur clothing making it a very sexy night-out look.

4. Prada 

Over a hundred years ago Prada opened up its first-ever high fashion boutique in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II which is home to many brands that are very close to the Italian roots. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was named after King Victor Emanuele II who was the first king of Italy. At the shop, Mario Prada sold precious leather goods such as handbags and other accessories like trunks and travel goods. It was not until Miuccia Prada, the youngest granddaughter of Mario, decided she wanted to transform the little boutique into a high fashion luxury brand. The style Prada carries tends to lean towards that cutting-edge hip look but with some classic mix. Prada has had many celebrities walk in their fashion shows giving them attention from millions of people gets to see.

5. Valentino 

Valentino Garavani brought Valentino to life in the 1960s and was recognized by Jacqueline Kennedy in the mid-1960s. Mr.Valentino had completed his formal training in Paris and after that opened his own line in 1959 Rome. The relationship between Jacky and Valentino was priceless, after Jacky left the white house she returned back to New York where she and Valentino met. Valentino had just arrived that September to present a collection of clothing and Jacky ordered 6 haute couture dresses and began wearing the high fashion brand regularly. The style of the brand contains romantic sexy ideas that are bold and not scared to shine. They are pieces that will make you feel like never before as he once said “Only wear clothes that make you feel alive.”

6. Versace

It was 1978 when Gianni Versace first created the brand but after a tragic attack, he was murdered. After the incident, Donatella the sister of Gianni Versace stepped in and became the creative director and has been in charge since then. Over the years Versace has done an amazing job at creating pieces that offer a very sexy luxurious look. The high fashion brand uses the medusa head as its main logo and bright gold baroque print to stand out in the crowd. As one of the brands that everyone is aware of these days, it is big amongst celebrities and rappers with high statuses. Donatella has gotten the chance to dress young billionaire Kylie Jenner and most paid model Kendall Jenner for the Met Gala that brought the attention back to the brand.
