5 Great Podcasts To Listen To In Your Free Time

With so much going on in the world and not enough time to address absolutely everything, great podcasts have been popping up all over the place, becoming the new craze in the media world. At this point in 2019, there are over 750,000 podcast shows out there, which means many aren’t that great and won’t succeed for very long. However, the upside to the large number of podcasts available to the world is that there is a podcast for virtually everything now, so no matter what you’re interested in, there’s likely a podcast show that covers it. In an age where we’re almost always on the go, podcasts are perfect to listen to in between classes, during workouts, walking to work, in the car, and while riding public transportation. However, with so many podcasts available, it might be hard to find the right one for you. With that being said, here are 5 great podcasts I’ve chosen to recommend for anyone interested in learning, laughing, and listening to hilarious stories whenever they have the time.

1. The Ross Bolen Podcast

At the top of the list where this great podcast deserves to be, the “Ross Bolen Podcast” is my personal favorite podcast of all time. Hosted by New York Times Bestselling author and Texas native Ross Bolen, the “Ross Bolen Podcast” is a one-stop shop for just about anything and everything besides politics. In this incredibly well-rounded podcast, host Ross Bolen discusses growing up, current events, history, mental health, animals, serial killers, pirates, music, and more, all while giving his listeners lots of laughs and great life advice. After working as the editor-in-chief at Grandex Media for the better part of the last decade, Ross Bolen recently decided to move on to bigger and better things, starting his own media company, Bolen Media, and bringing his incredibly entertaining podcasts with him. As he starts out on this new journey, Ross Bolen is utilizing Patreon, a membership platform that helps artists and creators to get paid. Go check out Ross’s podcast and if you absolutely love it and want to support him like I do, pay your dues on his Patreon page for premium content that you won’t get anywhere else.

2. Oysters, Clams, and Cockles

Another great podcast starring hosts Ross Bolen and Barrett Dudley, “Oysters, Clams, and Cockles” began as a podcast dedicated to the breakdown and understanding of Game of Thrones. However, now that Game of Thrones has ended, “Oysters, Clams, and Cockles” is shifting to discuss any and all great television shows and movies. If you haven’t quite finished Game of Thrones or you’re interested in hearing professional takes on the show, go back and listen to previous episodes of OCC, but if you’re done with Game of Thrones and wondering “what the Hell do I watch now?”, “Oysters, Clams, and Cockles” is the perfect podcast for you. Ross and Barrett give great takes and provide lots of laughs in this easily digestible podcast available on all streaming platforms. As with the Ross Bolen Podcast, if you love “Oysters, Clams, and Cockles” and want to gain access to premium content and extra episodes, find the OCC page on Patreon and help support Ross Bolen’s new venture.

3. The Joe Rogan Experience

The “Joe Rogan Experience” is undoubtedly a great podcast and probably the most well-known podcast on this list. Hosted by American comedian, actor, sports commentator, martial artist, and television host Joe Rogan, the “Joe Rogan Experience” in essence, is a show in which Joe Rogan has long, in-depth conversations with the best guests from the comedy world, the sports world, the science world, the entertainment world, and everything in between. As one of the most well-known podcasts in the world, the “Joe Rogan Experience” truly does have something for everyone.

4. Call Her Daddy

“Call Her Daddy” is a hilariously graphic, yet great podcast hosted by Alexandra Cooper and Sofia Franklyn of Barstool Sports. “Call Her Daddy” follows the hosts’ lives as two twenty-somethings living and working in New York City. They exploit their own lives and go into detail about sex, relationships, embarrassing moments, the New York social scene, and more, all while answering graphic questions brought to them by their listeners. In essence, “Call Her Daddy” can be described as a podcast featuring locker room talk for chicks, but in reality, there’s something for just about everyone (18+).

5. Going Deep With Chad And JT

Last, but definitely not least on this list of great podcasts, is “Going Deep with Chad and JT.” “Going Deep with Chad and JT” is a podcast hosted by two bros from Southern California named Chad Kroeger and JT Parr, in which they discuss major current events, honor legends, explore ongoing beef, give advice to fans who have sent in questions, and ultimately “go deep.” Despite their Southern California accents and hilarious “bro antics,” Chad and JT are actually incredibly smart and it shows throughout all of their podcast episodes. Check them out on all streaming platforms!

As I said before, there are so many more great podcasts out there that weren’t mentioned in this article. If I missed any big ones that you think should be on here, leave a comment and I’ll check it out!
