Attending Penn State is like having the best time of your life combined with undesirable amounts of stress. But it’s totally worth it. There’s always something going on somewhere, the weather is unique, and you’re going to meet some incredible people from all over. You get stressed, you’re tired from long nights in the library (or in Frat Land), and sometimes you eat so many insomnia cookies or pokey stix, you think you might explode. You’ll make life long friends, some great memories (some more memorable than others), and perhaps even be scolded by the Willard Preacher a couple of times. But for those of you who don’t know what life as a student at Penn State University is like, you’re undoubtedly missing out. Here’s a little bit of what it’s like to reside in the happiest of valleys.

1. In the winter, there is ice EVERYWHERE.

Better break out those ice skates! Winter months in Happy Valley will have you slipping and sliding all over the campus.

2. When the Loop is packed, and you have no personal space.

Who even knew you could fit that many people on a Cata bus? Hopefully your neighbor remembered to wear deodorant today.

3. The LONNNNNG Hub lines.

Hub Dining lines are ridiculous. If you’re not there at the right time you’ll wait a while to get your Chick-Fil-A nuggets.

4. How some of us feel about the Willard Preacher.

This man literally stands outside preaching. You’re even luckier if he calls you out personally.

5. When your late-night delivery arrives.

All. Hail. OrderUp. It’s now midnight and you’re leaving the library and realize you’re hungry. But no worries, order your pokey stix, OrderUp will deliver it right to you.

6. Checking your account after a weekend of spending.

Whether it’s buying books the first weekend of the semester, or hitting the bars Thursday through Saturday, you’ll be crying when you see how much you actually spend (good thing for meal points….right?).

Penn State is the best place to be. The students, professors, and all around culture are incredible. It’s the best community to be a part of.
