Game Day Snacks For Football Sunday

Football season is upon us and you know what that means…game day snacks!

Lets be real, most of us girls aren’t really paying attention to the game thats on. And theres no shame! I personally love football but to be honest, football season brings Sundays that are meant for lounging around and snacking. Those are two of my favorite things.

Sundays during football season is like a holiday each week for boys. They all get together, drink their beer, wear their jersey while screaming at the TV. The real way to a boys heart is football and food. So if you’re hanging with the guys, bring over a tray of snacks and you’ll definitely become a favorite.

All of these snacks are simple to make. And the best part about these kind of treats are that they are finger foods. Finger foods make the best game day snacks. The boys will love it and the girlfriends sitting around will love them even more.

1. Nachos

Nachos are so simple to make and you can really make them however you want. Sprinkle cheese over tortilla chips and bake them in the oven. Next put on your favorite toppings like olives, tomatoes, corn, beans, sour cream, guac, etc. You can really customize them to your liking. Adding meat like chicken or beef will make them more filling too. The nice thing about nachos is they are fast to make and you can make large quantities of them. If you are hosting a party, this is a great snack because you can make a ton at once. Another tip to spice them up is to use Doritos instead of tortilla chips. They give a really good flavor.

2. Burger Bites

If you want to keep things simple, serving burgers is a great way to go. But if you want to put a twist on your classic burger, try these bites. Make your patties much smaller, small enough to fit onto a toothpick. The add a little bit of cheese, lettuce and tomato and there you go! You use a toothpick as a sewer and make mini burger kabobs. You could even put on some pickles, onions, etc. Whatever you like. Your guests can pop them into their mouth easily. Also, you could make a Big Mac sauce for the side. Or just have ketchup and mustard for dipping.

3. French Fries

French fries are always a fan favorite but these ones have a twist. Get your favorite bag of store bought French fries and cook them according to the package. Or if you like, you can make your own French fries using potatoes and baking them. Then make a bunch of dipping sauces for people to use. A creamy dill sauce, chipotle ranch, spicy mayo and more. There are tons to make and you can get really creative. It gives a spin-off of chips and salsa. You could even make a variety of fries like sweet potato, crinkle, shoestring, etc. Or do this with onion rings! There are tons of possibles.

4. Chex Mix

Instead go going to the store and buying tons of chip bags, try making your own Chex mix. There are tons to choose from and the Chex website has a million but a personal favorite is their cheesy ranch style. It doesn’t require a lot of ingredients and can be thrown together last minute. You might even have the stuff in your cabinets already. Making this instead of buying chips just shows a little bit more appreciation. Also another good thing about this is just like the nachos, you can make it in large batches. Check out the recipe here.

5. Cheese Platter

Everybody loves pepperoni and cheese. It’s just a classic and a match made in heaven. Charcuterie platters are always a hit. The nice thing about them is you can put almost whatever you want on them. Get a giant board that you want to place all of the meats and cheeses on. Have a variety of crackers, cut of cubes of cheese like provolone, cheddar, munster, etc. and balls of mozzarella arranged around. Next add on pepperoni, salami, prosciutto or whatever meat you like. Then add some extras like jams, fruit, pickles, olives, roasted red peppers, etc. You can really make them however you want. This is always a hit.

6. Pigs in a Blanket

You really can’t go wrong with these. And honestly, making them homemade is much better and cost affective then buying them frozen. You’ll need mini hot dogs and crescent rolls. Wrap them around the dogs, bake them and boom. You have pigs in a blanket. These are a fan favorite and the guys always seem to go for them. They will go quick too so make sure you have plenty to go around. Serve them with some dipping sauces like ketchup, mustard and relish.
