Fourth Of July Cake Recipes That Even Uncle Sam Would Love

The Fourth of July is quickly approaching and if you’re in charge of supplying the desserts for your families’ BBQ then you might be a little stressed. Pinterest is full of over the top, extravagantly decorated, patriotic cakes, and let’s be honest, you’re not a master baker. Unless you have the free time to attend culinary school over the next couple of weeks, you’re going to need a better option. Here’s a list of some Fourth of July Cakes that are easy, but delicious – Uncle Sam approved.

Fourth of July Flag Cake

I think this is the cake that everyone’s mom brought to the party – it’s just about as classic suburban American family as an Old Navy flag t-shirt. It’s ridiculously easy and a huge hit every time. If you’re pressed for time this is the perfect recipe to break out. Simply bake a store-bought (or homemade if you’re fancy) pound cake into a large baking pan. Once it’s cooled, frost it with vanilla icing or cool whip. Decorate the cake with blueberries and strawberries to look like stars and stripes.

Fourth of July Pie

Without getting into the cake vs. pie debate let me just say either option are great for a BBQ (also I’m pro pie). This cherry and blueberry pie recipe is the perfect way to celebrate Old Glory. This recipe requires a fresh cherry and blueberry pie mixture. Keep the cherries located near the stripes and the blueberries near the stars. Feel free to spoon your fruit mixture into a premade pie crust, no one will care and no one will notice.

Fourth of July Cupcake Cake

Don’t let anyone tell you cupcakes aren’t cake – they’re also perfect for parties since they also for increased mobility while cake eating. No spoon, no fork, just cupcake and go. It’s pretty simple, bake cupcakes of your choosing then decorate them with colored frosting. You can even do half chocolate, half vanilla, maybe some funfetti. To save money just buy vanilla frosting and add a few drops of food coloring. Feel free to add some star designs and get a little creative with it.

American Flag Cake

This may be the fanciest Fourth of July Cake on the list, but don’t be overwhelmed- there are a ton of helpful recipes. The easiest recipe to follow comes from America’s favorite, Betty Crocker. In order to achieve the hidden flag design, you need to bake a red, white, and blue layer. After you’ve successfully baked each cake, simply add frosting between each layer. The recipe includes detailed instructions for arranging the layers to form the flag. Frost the assembled cake with white frosting and add some patriotic sprinkles. This recipe calls for a 4-inch biscuit cutter and food coloring paste.

Fourth of July Cake Pops

Cake pops are a little tricky to make so don’t feel ashamed if you have to toss a couple of practice pops. Regardless they’re super cute and sure to be a huge hit at any party. This most helpful cake pop recipe is from Happy Life Blog, and she’ll be the first to admit they’re not the easiest dessert to tackle. It involves baking a funfetti cake, crumbling it into small pieces, and then using a cookie dough scooper to create the ball shape. In order to keep the cake pop from crumbling, add a small spoonful of frosting to each scoop – gently compact the cake and you’ve made a pop. Bake again, add the sticks and dip each pop into a candy melt mixture. You can add sprinkles, food coloring, or designs.
