Eat These 6 Foods For Healthy Skin All Winter Long

If you’ve found yourself searching the web for foods for healthy skin, we’ve got you covered. Let’s face it. The weather is starting to get cooler and you are starting to notice that your skin is dry and the edges of your nose are peeling. I hate to break it to you, but your summer glow is gone. But what if I told you not all hope is lost? All you have to do is incorporate these 6 foods + oils into your diet to keep your skin healthy and glowing all winter long.

1. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Period. It’s a must. In the mornings when you get up, take 2 teaspoons of oil on an empty stomach and you will begin to see a difference on your skin the more you do this. I usually follow the 2 teaspoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil with a bottle of lukewarm water. Not only does it cleanse and detoxify your body, it will also clear and nourish your skin. Because your skin is a reflection of the inside of your body.

2. Strawberries

For the most part, any berry is good for your skin. They are rich in Vitamin C and are high in antioxidants. But over the years I have found that eating strawberries softens your skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

3. Avocado

If you want healthier looking skin without having to pay the price of expensive high end products, avocados will be your new best friend. The main skin benefit of an avocado is that it contains high oleic acid content. Basically, it’s a fatty acid that helps maintain moisture in your outer layer of skin- making it appear soft and hydrated!

4. Miyeok

Koreans have revolutionized skin care and right now they are all the hype in many beauty stores. Thanks to my roommate, I discovered thick seaweed called “Miyeok,” that helps hydrate and increase the collagen levels in your skin. You can even apply it to your face and use it as a mask.

5. Salmon

Not only is salmon high in protein and rich in Omega-3, it helps speed up your skin’s healing process! So next time instead of having red meat for dinner, opt for some fish.

6. Carrots

Carrots are incredibly rich in beta-carotene and Vitamin A, which not only help keep your skin from drying, but are known to fight off signs of aging. Plus, they’re delicious.

*Bonus: Water

So technically this isn’t considered as one of the best foods for healthy skin. But up until last year, I almost never drank water regularly. But after seeing a picture that circled on social media about a woman who looked 10x younger after a solid month of drinking the recommended dose of water, I am addicted. Drinking water is essential to your body and keeping your skin hydrated. Even if you don’t feel thirsty, just force yourself to drink water because it will help clear your skin and detoxify your body. You can hydration calculator to help you determine how much water you should be drinking regularly.
