10 Easy College Recipes You Can Make Right In Your Dorm

Dorm life takes a toll, especially on your culinary experiences! But don’t worry, all is not lost when it comes to college recipes. Here are 10 recipes you can make with just a mini fridge, microwave, and your favorite mug!

1) Breakfast Cookie

basic ingredients:

  • Banana
  • Peanut butter
  • Milk
  • Honey
  • Oats
  • Raisins (if you’d like)

Yes, a cookie for breakfast! You were going to do it anyway, so you might as well make this version packed with protein to give you energy for the day. Mash the banana and mix everything together in the mug, microwave for a minute and enjoy it hot!

2) Spinach Cheddar Quiche

  • Chopped spinach
  • Egg
  • Milk
  • Shredded cheddar cheese

This is one of the easiest college recipes around for a great-tasting meal between classes. Just microwave the spinach with a little bit of water, then add the rest of the ingredients and microwave again for 3 minutes! Season to taste or drizzle some hot sauce on top.

3) Taco in Bag

  • Nacho tortilla chips
  • Taco sauce (with ground beef, if desired)
  • Shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • Shredded lettuce

This one lets you snack without feeling like your snacking! Just mix your favorite chips with taco ingredients, and you have a fiesta in a bag—perfect for the walk to class!

4) Mexican Street Corn

  • Canned corn
  • Queso
  • Butter
  • Lime
  • Chili powder and salt

Microwave drained corn in a mug with butter. Add rest of ingredients to fill the mug and drizzle with lime juice, sprinkle chili powder on top to taste!

5) Broccoli Cheddar Soup

  • Steam-in-bag broccoli
  • Unsweetened almond milk
  • Flour
  • Cheddar cheese

Steam the broccoli as directed, add all of the ingredients into a mug or bowl, and microwave until the cheese is perfectly melted! Perfect for getting back to the dorm after walking through the cold from class!

6) Quinoa Burrito Bowl

  • Quinoa
  • Black beans
  • Diced tomato (in a can to save time and fridge space!)
  • Corn
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Greek yogurt

Most of these college recipes are under five minutes; this one takes a few more, but it’s worth it for a filling dinner! Microwave the quinoa with water for five minutes, then a couple more, then add in the rest of the ingredients and eat! If you’re feeling adventurous, add in your favorite veggies or spices for some more flavor.

7) Pasta with sauce

  • Pasta of your choice
  • Sauce of your choice

There are so many option when it comes to pasta. Don’t let it overwhelm you, though! Just boil the pasta with water in the microwave until it’s fully cooked, which might be a couple of minutes longer than the box directions. Drain the pasta, add in your favorite sauce, and top with cheese or seasonings.

8) Mediterranean Tuna Salad

  • Canned tuna
  • Kalamata olives
  • Diced red peppers
  • lemon juice and parsley

This may shock you, but all you have to do here is mix the ingredients in a bowl! Eat as is or in a sandwich with lettuce and tomato! It’s up to you, and it’s a great lunch option.

9) Mason Jar Greek Salad

  • Chickpeas
  • Cucumbers
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Black Olives
  • Feta Cheese
  • Chopped lettuce
  • Honey
  • Lemon juice
  • Tahini paste

This one might have the most ingredients, but it ‘s the most grab-and-go, too! Let’s be honest, almost everyone has a mason jar around. But if you don’t just make this in a mug, bowl, or travel container instead. Simply mix the wet ingredients to make the dressing, pouring into the bottom of the jar (if you’re using a mug, save this for last!). Then layer the ingredients for a tasty (and photo-worthy) quick lunch.

10)  Egg White Bagel Sandwich

  • Bagel or bagel thin
  • Egg whites
  • Spinach
  • Cheese wedges
  • Tomato
  • Avocado

Mix the egg whites and spinach in a bowl and cook in the microwave. Smear cheese onto bagel, then top with cooked egg white and spinach. Top with sliced tomato and avocado and get munching!
