I Drank Kombucha For A Week And This Is Why You Should Too

Thinking about trying Kombucha? Here is my experience of how my body reacted, how I felt and much more. So what are you waiting for? Don't wait longer to try Kombucha health benefits.

We’ve all been hearing all about the benefits of drinking Kombucha: clearer skin, better digestion, stronger immunity, and even cancer prevention. So, whether you’re a skeptic or a true believer, we need to have a talk about Kombucha.

Kombucha is just one of those things that you either love or hate. However, the health benefits seem to make up for any discrepancies over taste or texture. So, that is why I decided to stock my fridge with different flavors and challenge myself to drink Kombucha for a week.

But first… What is Kombucha?

Well, I’m glad you asked. Kombucha is a fermented black tea or sweetened green tea with symbiotic colony bacteria and yeast, otherwise known as Scoby or “tea fungus”. During the fermentation process, the yeast that the Scoby contains breaks down into sugar releasing probiotic bacteria causing the drink to carbonate, so you can taste that tangy, fizzy beverage.

A fungus fizzy drink may not exactly sound appetizing, but it may be worth it to see how your body reacts to the probiotics and the amazing health benefits this drink has. Not just because of its rich probiotics, which helps your body with gut problems, but also they can help with digestion, bloating and even weight loss.

Kombucha also contains antioxidants, which fight free radicals in your body. But every person’s digestion reacts differently to this bacteria, so the best way to know if Kombucha is for you is to pay attention to your own body and decide how much is too much for you. Try, at first, to stick to one bottle a day.

Starting my seven-day challenge

Starting the week, I picked one of my seven bottles, I ended up trying a lot of different brands. But one of my favorites is Kevita Master Brew, specifically the Pineapple Peach flavor — so tasty!

I had enough bottles of Kombucha to complete my seven-day challenge, which led me to discover other delicious flavors such as Tart Cherry, Lemon Ginger, and Grapefruit.

My first day completing my first bottle of Kombucha flavored Blueberry Mint, which I drank during the day. I noticed that I was feeling full throughout the day — but not heavy full, but pretty satisfied and not trying to make it to my next meal. Also, Kombucha really gets things inside moving – if you know what I mean.

Along the week…

The same pattern continued throughout the week. I drank my Kombucha bottle during the day, had regular bathroom breaks and felt satisfied with no cravings during the day. After the week went along, I also noticed that I felt more energized and awake while doing my tasks. Somedays, I wasn’t able to finish the complete bottle so I just stuck it in the fridge and finish it the next day. By then, I looked forward to my bubbly sips during the day, especially because my body felt so great.

Sometimes I did feel that the drink was too carbonated for my taste, so after the week passed, I took a few days off from drinking it, but now I am back to my Kombucha.

Final thoughts…

Honestly, I did felt great drinking Kombucha, it helped me with my digestion, my mind was clear and focus and my sweet cravings decrease. A sip of Kombucha kept me happy, I will definitely continue to try new flavors, but maybe not every day, one bottle a day was a little too much for me, but I will definitely continue to indulge myself in this healthy and yummy habit.

Kombucha, nowadays, is practically mainstream. You can find it anywhere from your local market to the largest grocery store. I will recommend trying Kombucha to see how your body responds to it, and if it does in a positive way, including Kombucha in your diet could be a good option.
