10 Documentaries To Watch On Netflix ASAP

With a global pandemic and social distancing still being recommended by the health officials, it is easy to find yourself bored out of your mind. Netflix is the obvious place to go to when you have nothing else to do. However, sometimes it is so hard to find what to watch! Are you a fan of documentaries? If you don’t feel like re-watching The Office for the fifth time and would like to watch something new-we’ve got you covered! 1. Abducted In Plain Sight 

This chilling documentary is about a preteen in Idaho who gets abducted, drugged, and sexually abused by a family friend. What makes this documentary so horrifyingly peculiar is that the abductor, Jan Broberg Felt (also named as “B” throughout the documentary), abducts his victim right under her parents’ noses. Despite the unimaginable and heartbreaking journey, Jan, the survivor, fights for her freedom and takes her experience as a way to give strength to other survivors and shine light on child abduction and sexual abuse. 

2. Don’t F*ck With Cats: Hunting An Internet Killer

In 2010, a video of a boy killing two cats on Facebook went viral. Within minutes, a Facebook group of angry people was formed to hunt down the person who dared to do that. Two regular people, Deanna Thompson and John Green worked together via Facebook to hunt down the perpetrator. As they dug deeper and deeper, they started learning more about the cold-blooded person who would stop at nothing to get the attention and reaction he wanted. This Netflix documentary will have you glued to your screen!

3. Catfish

This documentary will remind you why you should be cautious when meeting people on the internet! A young New York photographer, Nev, received a painting one of his photographs drawn by an eight-year old. Soon, he starts sending her more of his photographs which she paints. He gets closer with her family and is eager to meet them all. However, when he travels almost 400 miles to meet the Facebook family that he has been talking to for eight months he realizes that something is off. 

4. Fyre

In 2017, Billy McFarland and Ja Rule founded a luxury music festival with the hopes to promote their company’s app. The event was promoted on Instagram by many influencers including Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid.  Thousands of people spent thousand of dollars to be attend the Fyre festival however when the weekend of the festival arrived the turn out wasn’t what it was expected to be. The attendants soon realized that the Fyre festival ended up being a fraud however it was too late. This documentary reveals the dirty side of business and influencer culture.

5. The Game Changers

This documentary. tells the story of of James Wilks, Special Forces trainer, as he travels the world to find the optimal diet for the best human performance while also recovering from an injury. It talks about the benefits of plant-based eating for athletes which is all supported by scientific research. If you are an athlete or interested in ways to improve your diet you will find this documentary very informational!

6. Explained

This fascinating docuseries covers multiple subjects such as: social injustice, political correctness, diet, astrology, weed, female orgasm, and so much more. Each episode is about 15-20 minutes long which makes this docuseries even more addicting and engaging. If you enjoy learning about the world, I encourage you to check out this docuseries!

7. NOVA: Black Hole Apocalypse 

If you find astronomy and black holes fascinating this one is for you! Black holes are still one of the most mysterious objects for us. Farrier joins a deathly cult in Mexico, visits one of the most radiated place on Earth, and swims in the atomic waters. If you are the kind of person who is curious about dark parts of the world and enjoys a rush of adrenaline then this documentary was made for you!

Princess Diana is still one of the most beloved princesses in history. Her tragic death was heart-breaking to the whole world. She completely changed the way the world sees Royalty and its modern duties. Princess Diana worked with countless charities that represented animal rights, homeless youth, and the elderly. This documentary contains personal footage and interviews of Princess Diana which show an even more profound side of her.
