Shut the tv off because tonight we are making DIY facemasks. It’s time to give your skin some much needed TLC without looking further than your kitchen. I will not lead you astray my DIY Divas, (Ahem baking soda and lemon facemask, I’m talking to you). Here are 10 DIY face masks your skin will love!
Dry Skin Diva
The only thing worse than being covered in itchy dry skin is using up all of your watermelon scented lotion, hoping it will go away. This face mask made out of honey and oatmeal is hydrating, easy to make, plus it smells great! With only three ingredients (Oatmeal, water, honey), the dry skin diva mask will cure your irritated skin, and it is excellent for those of you who are a bit sensitive when it comes to skin care. Heres what you’ll need:
- 1 TBS Oatmeal
- 1 tsp Raw Honey
- 1/2 tsp water
Yep, it’s that easy. Mix, spread, and reap the benefits. Leave it on for 10 minutes and remove with warm water. This mask is great on any part of your body, so don’t be afraid to lather it up on other dry parts of yourself that may need some love. Your skin will thank you, and its a great way to use up the healthy food you bought but will never eat. What can I say, quarantine snacks >healthy food all day. Don’t @ me.
The Tone Up
Ever have those days where your skin just feels off? Stop applying highlighter girl, because this facemask is going to make your skin glow! Enter: Greek yogurt. Yep, you read that right. It’s cool, it leaves your skin soft, and it feels good AF when smearing it on your face-trust me. Heres what you’ll need:
- 1 TBS Greek Yogurt
- 1 tsp Oatmeal
- 1 tsp Honey
Mix and apply. Wait ten minutes or the length it takes your man to snap you back and remove it with warm water and a washcloth. You’ll notice your instant glow up, and this mask will leave you looking Dewy AF. Hold onto this recipe because we know you’ll fall in love.
The Lip Smacker
Ok. So this is technically not a “face” mask but hear me out. Lips deserve love too! We all have had chapped at some point in our life, which reminds me- have you seen my chapstick? Chapped lips are NOT fun, and usually, the only choice we have is to hope and pray that our chapstick helps us out. Don’t fret- I have found a solution to our chapped lip chronicles, Enter: the lip smacker mask.
Heres what you’ll need:
- 1/2 TBS Pure Cane Sugar
- 1/2 TBS Filtered Honey
Yep, that’s it. The cane sugar will work as an exfoliant, and the honey will help your lips retain moisture. Plus, it tastes great while you use it. Mix it up and apply gently onto your lips, wait 5 minutes a rinse off with warm water. Make sure to follow up with some lip balm and only do this once a week! Your lips will be swoon-worthy in no time. When it comes to your favorite face masks we know this one will be at the top of your list.
I’ll take a venti matcha latte… I mean face mask, please! That’s right girls, it turns out that matcha isn’t just something delicious to drink but that it can also be extremely beneficial for your skin. If you have inflammation, then this is the perfect DIY facemask for you. The best part? You’ll only need two ingredients matcha and fresh aloe vera(or gel). Mix these two magic ingredients and bam! You have what I like to call, matcha o magic. Heres the breakdown.
- 2 TBS Fresh Aloe (you can substitute for aloe gel)
- 1 Tsp Matcha
Aloe vera is naturally soothing and lightly moisturizing when mixed with matcha. These two are the perfect pair and make for one of the tremendous anti-inflammatory face masks.
Where are all my avocado lovers at? As if you needed another reason to love avocado, I’m happy to tell you that it also makes a fabulous facemask. If you have dry skin, you know that most moisturizers are full of oil and can clog the hell out of our pores, which is why we are here for this DIY- avocado-honey mask. It only involves two ingredients, and it is hydrating AF. Heres how to make it:
- Half an Avacado
- One tablespoon of honey
Mash it together, and there you have it. We recommend leaving it on for 5-10 minutes, then rinsing it with warm water. You will be stunned by how amazing your skin feels, and it will look great too!
Too Good To Be True Tumeric Mask
If you are someone who deals with acne scars or hyperpigmentation, then it’s time to raid your spice drawer because turmeric face masks are totally going to change your life. Before you make this face mask, you will need to make sure that you have a buffer or something to mix in with the Tumeric. From experience (Don’t ask), if you decide to use just water, it can stain your skin vibrant yellow. I recommend Greek yogurt or your favorite face oil. If you don’t have either of those, you can also use coconut oil or olive oil. Heres the recipe:
- 1 tsp of Tumeric
- 2 TBS of oil or greek yogurt
Keep the mixture on your skin for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse off, followed by your usual face wash. Feel free to use this mask as often as you’d like. Others have said they have noticed results in less than three days! I can’t say this enough. Don’t mix with water unless you’re ready to channel your inner Oompa Loompa vibes!
