12 Delicious Cakes You Can Bake Without An Oven

Sometimes all you want are cakes, but you don’t have access to an oven! Maybe it’s broken, or maybe you live somewhere that does not have an oven. We have you covered with twelve delicious cakes you can bake without an oven.

1. Steamed Marble Cake

Not many people realise you can actually make cakes using a steamer – but it is true! Fill a steamer with water as you usually would and bring it to boil. Put the simmer basket inside and leave the water to simmer whilst you make the batter. Mix butter and sugar together in a mixing bowl and beat them using an electric whisk before mixing in the eggs, flour, and milk. Beat the mixture until it is smooth then separate the batter by pouring one quarter into a separate bowl. This is your chocolate part of the cake! Add cocoa powder to the smaller mixture. Combine the two batters in a pan and cover it. Now steam the pan for 30-45 minutes. Remove the cake, check it is cooked through, and then enjoy!

2. Microwave Mug Cake

You can also bake cakes using a microwave! If you don’t have a cooker of any sort, chances are that you will definitely have a microwave – so try out making this delicious cake. Another fun thing about this bake is that it is made in a mug – so you don’t even need any fancy baking tins! Mix in your sugar, baking mix and milk in the mug and stir it with a fork. Add some chocolate chips. Microwave the mixture in the mug for at least one minute at full power. Check it is cooked through. 3. Chocolate Lava Cake

This is a deliciously chocolaty cake that you can make using a slow cooker! Mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl until it is combined. Then add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla into the mixture. In a separate bowl, it is time to make the lava. Use brown sugar, cocoa powder and hot water to create the mixture. Stir until smooth. Pour the cake batter into the slow cooker first, followed by the lava mix. Do not stir them! Cover the slow cooker and leave it on a high heat setting for 2 and a half hours. Once it is cooked, leave the cake to stand for 30 – 40 minutes. Serve it up and dig in with a spoon to unleash the chocolate lava!

4. Cheesecake

Cheesecake is one of the simplest and most versatile no-bake cakes. You can make any cheesecake flavour you like without the need for an oven. First, you will need to crush some biscuits (digestives are the go-to for a cheesecake) and mix them with some butter. Press the mix into a tin and put it in the fridge to set. To make the cheesecake mix, combine cream cheese, lemon juice, and icing sugar and mix until smooth. Whip a bowl of double cream using a whisk until it turns to stiff peaks. Stir the two mixtures together and pour it onto the biscuit base. Leave in the fridge to chill and set for an hour.

5. Ice Cream Cake

Some people get really annoyed if you say ice cream cakes are, in fact, cakes—but if it looks like a cake and tastes like a cake, then it is one! You will definitely need to clear some space in your freezer before you attempt to make this. Otherwise, you will have nowhere to store it. First, you will need to whip your ice cream, but do not let it unfreeze! Spread it in a pan and layer crushed biscuits on top before soaking it all in fudge sauce. Freeze overnight. Then whip your chocolate ice cream and place it on top of your cake before freezing the whole thing overnight again. Take it out of the freezer, flip it over, and you’re done! Just remember to keep it frozen!

6. Rocky Road

Who could ever not love rocky road? This tasty traybake is perfect for when you do not have access to an oven! For this, you will need a saucepan. First, you will have to crush a lot of biscuits. A simple way to do this is to put them inside a bag and smash them with a rolling pin. It’s a great way to release some anger you have been holding in! From there, melt butter, dark chocolate and syrup in the saucepan until it is smooth. Take the mixture off the heat and allow it to cool before mixing in the biscuits, marshmallows, and whatever other ingredients you decide to include. Pour the mixture into a baking tin and leave it in the fridge to cool.

7. Crepe Cake

This is perhaps an odd idea and not exactly what you were looking for when you searched ‘cakes’, but it is a delicious cake that does not require any baking! Instead, all you need is a frying pan or a skillet. Make a fair amount of crepes, ten or twelve is probably a safe bet, and then whip up some cream cheese frosting or icing. Layer the crepes on top of each other and sandwich them together with the filling. Now you have a tasty and unusual cake which will impress all your friends!

8. Ice Box Cake

They say that if you can whip cream, you can make an icebox cake. It is essentially an entire cake made of cream and biscuits. To start, you should use a hand mixer to beat heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla into peaks. Spread a layer of cream into the base of a cake tin, then create a layer of biscuits—entirely your choice of which brand! Keep doing this until you get the height you want. Spread some cream on top and refrigerate overnight.

9. Chocolate Biscuit Cake

This is exactly what it says—a cake made out of biscuits! Break some digestives into small chunks and put them in a bowl. Add in some roasted hazelnuts and walnuts. From there, make a chocolate sauce using sugar, cocoa powder, and butter melted over the stove. Pour the mixture over the biscuits and stir it in. Place the mixture in a cake tin and smooth it down. 11. Fridge Cake

You may not have an oven, but hopefully, you have a fridge! Even a mini-fridge will do! These cakes have become more popular recently and they are great for anyone who is not particularly skilled at baking. To create a fridge cake, all you need to do is gather the ingredients, chop them up, and place them in a bowl with some meringue. For a chocolate cake, melt some chocolate and golden syrup over a pan or in the microwave and then stir it into the meringue mixture. Line a container with clingfilm and Pour the mix in. This will be the mould for your cake. Place the container in the fridge and leave it to firm into a cake.

12. Tiffin 

Tiffin is a delicious tray bake that can easily be made without an oven. Create the mixture using golden syrup, butter, digestives, cocoa powder, and raisins. Pour it into a tin and spread it into an even base. Melt a slab of plain or dark chocolate using your microwave. Spread the chocolate onto the base and put the dish in the fridge. Within an hour, it should be set and ready to eat!
