8 Cosy Autumn Activities To Pumpkin-Spice Up Your Life

Fall is a great time of year to spend time with your friends. It’s not so cold you can’t go outside, or so hot the indoors seems like a sweaty prison. Cosy Autumn activities are a great way to make memories without feeling sad about the loss of Summer. Here are some cute ideas to spend time in the fall.

1. Horse Rides

Perhaps the last time you’ve been on a horse was your cousins’ birthday ten years ago. Or maybe you never even had horse phase growing up, and ponies are completely new to you. Either way, a gentle horse ride through the countryside with your best pals is one of many super relaxing and cosy Autumn activities that will make you feel closer to nature. Besides, horses are just so pretty! Beware, you may just re-kindle that horse-phase.

2. Apple Picking

Another sweet outdoor activity. Load your car up with family, friends, and plenty of carry bags. You’re going to need all the help you can get as you raid nearby orchards of apples. If you’re not a fan of apple pie or apple sauce, you could find farms with different fruits, such as peaches or plums.

3. Scary Movie Nights

Experiencing pure terror from behind a safe, comfy blanky is one of the best cosy Autumn activities. Watching scary movies alone can be a thrilling experience, but it’s so much more entertaining when you invite your friends. Add blankets to hide under and food to comfort you, and then all you need are some slasher horrors to get into an autumnal vibe. I highly recommend ‘Tucker and Dale VS Evil’ as a hilarious horror-parody, or get into classics like ‘Friday the 13th’.

4. Evening Picnics

Take your dinner on the road to visit breath-taking sunsets and hide-away hilltops. Picnics aren’t just for daytime, nor are they exclusively Spring and Summer activities. Listen to chill playlists while the sky constantly changes colour, and don’t forget fairy lights. They are integral to maintaining a cosy atmosphere. Great picnic foods include warm soups eaten out of furnaces and lots of hot, herbal tea. Don’t forget sweets afterward, like Nutella donuts.

5. Drive-Ins

Enjoy the latest releases from the comfort of your own car! Drive-ins are a nostalgic way to appreciate cinema, and it is important to enjoy them before they all die out. One of the most classic cosy Autumn activities, you and your friends can huddle under warm blankets and eat a bunch of snacks.

6. Mazes

Australia isn’t renowned for its corn maze scene, but there are plenty of hedge varieties around Victoria. Make a day of it and get lost in the unknown for hours. Make sure you bring plenty of water, snacks, and sweaters in-case it gets cold for an authentically cosy Autumn activity. While the maze may test your friendships, it’s good exercise and gives you an idea as to which of your pals would make for the best team leader in a zombie apocalypse.

7. Ghost Towns

There are dozens of abandoned towns on the outskirts of Melbourne, forgotten remnants of the gold rush. Plan a road trip with your friends to get some insight into the past, while also experiencing the haunting atmosphere of an empty town. It’s a little creepy, but a really interesting insight into your home state’s past.

8. Fairy Park

Fairy Park is a theme park an hour out of Melbourne, filled with animatronic fairy tale characters and statues to pose with. This fun day out is full of cosy Autumn activities to experience. Plan a picnic to eat in between watching all your favourite tales rendered in creepy puppets. Try co-ordinating outfits or costumes with your BFF’s if you want to fit in with the Brothers Grimm vibes.
