Boston Concerts You Won’t Want to Miss This Fall

Fall in the Northeast is full of opportunities: apple picking, haunted houses, farmer’s markets. But, fall in Boston is also the prefect time to go see some of your favorite performers only a couple of miles away. Every year it seems like more people are flocking to Beantown for shows, and all within a couple weeks of each other. Plus, a concert is the perfect excuse to have a night out with friends thats not in a crowded dorm room or at the bar you’ve been going to for a month straight. So, here is a list of some of my bucket-list concerts in Boston during this fall semester.

Chance the Rapper

Whatever your opinions about his new album are, Chance rarely goes on tour so you should take the opportunity to see him while you can- I promise you will not regret it. And hey, maybe you can relive your freshman pregames if he plays No Problem!

When: Thursday, October 3, 7PM

Where: TD Garden

Avril Lavigne

I’m going to be honest: I am not sure if I would know any of Avril Lavigne’s current work, but going to hear Sk8ter boi and Complicated live is enough to get me out of bed and go! I mean, What the Hell! (Get it-haha). Anyways, it is played at one of the oldest theaters not only in Boston, but in the United States, which is a cool trivia fact to make your History major friend go along with you.

When: Thursday, October 3, 8PM

Where: Orpheum Theatre

Maggie Rogers

Before writing this article, I had no idea that Maggie Rogers was coming to Boston! My roommates and I play the whole Heard it in a Past Life album on repeat in the room, so I will definitely find a way to get to this concert. If you do not know her, or only know her from her song Alaska, then do yourself a favor and go listen to her stuff then buy some tickets for this concert!

When: Saturday, October 5, 8PM

Where: Bach Center- Wang Theatre

Post Malone

Hollywood’s Bleeding may have only come out a month ago, but Post Malone is wasting no time with getting a tour started. His mix of songs allows for friends with different music tastes to all be excited to go. With back-to-back nights, there is no excuse to miss out on this concert!

When: Tuesday, October 8 & Wednesday, October 9, both at 7PM

Where: TD Garden

Carrie Underwood

Another old favorite is coming into town. Oh, how I miss the days of watching the Before He Cheats music video with friends and when Jesus Take the Wheel would come on the radio shuffle. If you are nostalgic for the mid-2000s in this same way I am, definitely make sure to get tickets for this concert.

When: Thursday, October 10, 7PM

Where: TD Garden

Sara Bareilles

Whether you are obsessed with her since her Love Song days or know every minute of Waitress, Sara Bareilles is no doubt an insanely talented performer. Grab your fellow Broadway-loving friend and head out to see her while she’s in Boston. P.S., while it may be at the BU arena, anyone can go to concerts here (even as a rival BC student).

When: Friday, October 11, 8PM

Where: Boston University: Agganis Arena

The Head and the Heart

If Indie Folk is more of your vibe, then you cannot miss this concert this semester. The Head and the Heart have great songs that are sure to be crowd favorites, whether you know all the lyrics by heart or are a first-time listener.

When: Saturday, October 12, 8PM

Where: Boston University: Agganis Arena

Bon Iver

Another Indie Folk band you should not miss this fall. If you want to sing at the top of your lungs to Skinny Love live, this is the chance you have been waiting for, so do not pass it up!

When: Tuesday, October 15, 7:30PM

Where: TD Garden

See Also

Charli XCX

Charli XCX just came out with a new album, so start to learn all her new songs before you head to this show. Or, just go to sing along to some of her hits from a couple of years ago, like Break the Rules or Boom Clap.

When: Thursday, October 17, 7PM

Where: House of Blues Boston

Logic

You may only know Logic from his most popular song- 1-800-273-8255, or remember him from that moving suicide presentation awareness performance at the 2017 VMAs. Logic is bound to perform a moving performance. So learn a couple more songs- or don’t- but definitely do not miss this show!

When: Tuesday, November 5, 7:30PM

Where: Boston University: Agganis Arena

Elton John

This is arguably the hottest concert ticket of this fall. The chance to see Elton John on his Farewell tour is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Before you go, make sure to watch Rocketman which came out this summer, which gives a great background to the man behind the music. Whatever you do, make sure you do not miss this- the memory will be worth the splurge of the ticket prices.

When: Friday, November 15, 8PM

Where: TD Garden

Jonas Brothers

While Elton John may be the most coveted ticket across the board for the fall, I think that the Jonas Brothers ticket is what every college aged person will be wanting to go to this fall. The JoBros are back and better than ever! With new songs like Sucker and Cool already performing great on the charts, it seems like their success is only going to grow from their hiatus. If you’re like me, you are dying to go to see this band that helped shape your childhood. So make sure to get these tickets, it will be the perfect way to start you Thanksgiving Break!

When: Sunday, November 24, 7:30PM

Where: TD Garden

Concerts are one of my favorite ways to get off campus to do something fun with my friends. With so many great artists to choose from this semester, you should have no problem finding a show that everyone in your group will get excited about going to. So take your pick and have a great night with your friends!
