A thrilling and suspenseful read that hits on some hard realities on the subject of marriage and relationships, as well as what it’s like to be a woman, and specifically a ‘cool girl’. The ‘cool girl’ who ‘never gets angry; only smiles in a chagrined, loving manner and lets their men do whatever they want.’ It’s easy to read yet shockingly dark. Definitely a must.

This novel follows the stories of three female college friends as they pursue their careers and romantic relationships in a time when women had little respect. It’s a great tale of female friendship and trying to earn respect in a male-dominated era. Perfect for any girl trying to find her feet.

If somehow you avoided reading this for your English GCSE at school, it’s definitely worth a read now you’re an adult.
