Best Views of Atlanta's Cityscape for Instagram Pictures

Like most people, there’s only one thought that comes to mind when I see a beautiful cityscape: pictures. The next thought is usually concerning how to capture the city at its best angle. If taken without any thought or pre-planning, the picture will often have unwanted buildings, parking decks or even people in the way or in front of what you’re trying to capture, ultimately and instantly destroying your photo quality. However, if you find yourself facing this obstacle in the city of Atlanta, don’t worry. That’s why we’re here. We’ve gathered up a list of the best views of Atlanta’s cityscape, so prepare for those Instagram likes to go through the roof.

1. Skyline Park

Located on the roof of Ponce City Market (675 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE, Atlanta), Skyline Park offers a clear view of the northwest portion of Downtown Atlanta. Having a little distance from downtown itself, the park gives the perfect opportunity to capture a mixture of both nature and city life as the view provides sight of Atlanta’s cityscape and the many trees of its immediate surrounding cities and suburbs.

Adding some cool new pics to your camera roll is not the end-all with this spot, either. There’s also hours’ worth of entertainment and attractions including a restaurant, bar, mini-golf, several different fair-style skill games and a giant “Skyline Slide” (that serves as a more elevated view of the city).

2. Kennesaw Mountain

See a great view of Atlanta’s cityscape and get a workout in while you’re at it. What a perfect way to kill two birds with one stone! You can expect a hike up the mountain to be approximately a mile on the trail, and a mile and a half on the road. If you’re not up for the challenge, that’s okay, too, as shuttle buses always offer an option for a quick ride to the top, followed by a Civil War history lesson detailing a battle that once occurred on the mountain years ago.

Regardless of however you choose to get up there, you’re guaranteed to be satisfied with the amount of space and photo potential this mountain has. Take some flicks and create a caption telling the world how accomplished you feel after making it to the top! (Even if you took the shuttle, I won’t tell anyone.)

3. Sun Dial Restaurant and Observatory

If I had to personally rank this view in comparison to the others, it would definitely be number one without a doubt. I mean, how much better can it get than having a 723-foot-high rotating view of Atlanta? Not to mention the exquisite meal you receive to top things off.

Located on the uppermost floors of The Westin Peachtree Plaza, the Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View provides you with an unmatched view of every direction the city of Atlanta has, as the entire floors slowly and continuously rotates a full 360 degrees. With that in mind, there’s no way you won’t be able to capture the aforementioned perfect angle of the cityscape. And even if you do seem to miss your window of opportunity, with just a little patience, you’re sure to end up back in the same position in just a matter of minutes.

Menu-wise, this location is a bit more upscale, so try to avoid the restaurant if you’re on a budget, and they’re pretty busy year-round, so it’d be best to make reservations in advance if you do decide to dine.

The food they serve classifies as seasonal, contemporary American cuisine, though it is mainly southern-inspired. Creativity Outweighs Idealism

When it comes to photography, we get that some people may be more meticulous than others, and perfectionists do exist. However, the elements and surroundings you’re given may not always perfectly align in your favor.

In those types of scenarios, one thing to remember is to always use implement your creativity to the fullest extent. Although the universe may not always be on your side in providing you with the perfect background to use for Instagram, a little brainpower will take you a long way. Just look around and make the best out of what you have!
