Whether you’re struggling through the disaster of finals, the internship search, or a rough day, here are some of your best places to cry around campus. Release your sorrows in one of these lovely spots.
1. The third floor bathroom of Lind Hall
An unknown gem, and my vote for best bathroom on campus, you can enjoy the silence and soak up your tears with the copious available paper towels.
2. The quiet landscaped area between the light rail tracks
You know, the nice space with plenty of tables and benches, lots of plants, and the added bonus of trains passing every few minutes so people on one side of the street can’t see your tears.
3. That empty parking lot behind Ponion
That one behind the building that’s basically abandoned all the time. Get your coffee and then step out back for a nice relaxing cry.
4. In a corner of the Knoll
This location gives you the chance to relax outside if the weather is nice. Nothing beats getting out your emotions in the sun.
5. The secret garden in St. Paul
A little known secret: if you walk past the connector stop and down the road toward the outside of campus, there’s an awesome garden before the fields on the edge of campus. Lots of beautiful flowers and water features make for a lovely setting to get out your emotions.
6. While doing laps at the Rec
The water will make it seem like your tears don’t even exist, and the echoes will provide a nice sound experience. Plus, you exercise at the same time. Win, win.
7. Over a late night slice of pizza at Mesa
Let’s face it, you were going to be here already. Might as well have a nice cry while you’re waiting for your pizza. Warm cheese should do the trick to cheer you up.
8. Those comfy chairs in The Commons lobby
Wander in and pretend to be a rich and elegant tourist who’s also having an emotional day.
9. The back shelves of any library
There’s a good chance you’ll be crying in the library anyways, might as well find a nice warm corner in the back for some peace and quiet.
10. Over a drink at The Library
If books aren’t your thing, drinks might be. Try out the other Library and wash away your sorrows.
