Hi Mum. Hi Dad.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lot of things that I\u2019ve always wished deep in my heart that I could tell you, and I know that there\u2019s going to be a time where I\u2019m not going to get the chance to keep talking to you. Sometimes it\u2019s difficult to muster up the words at times so I can\u2019t always say them face-to-face, so I compiled this list to say just some of the things I want to tell you before you\u2019re gone.<\/p>\n

1. \u201cYou\u2019ve always been the best role models.\u201d<\/h2>\n

I could look at someone famous in the world and aspire to be like them, but the truth is that I\u2019ve always asked myself \u2018<\/em>what would Mum do?\u2019 \u2018what would Dad do?\u2019.\u00a0<\/em>You both radiate a confidence and professionalism about everything that is something to be admired.<\/p>\n

2. \u201cYou have made me so happy.\u201d<\/h2>\n

I have so many fond memories of all of us packed into my short life on this earth and I find myself reminiscing about them so frequently. Our Sunday roast dinners around the table make me remember how it is to laugh, smile, and savour the feeling of the company around me.<\/p>\n

3. \u201cI\u2019m thankful for everything that you have given me.\u201d<\/h2>\n

In a generation that\u2019s moving faster every day, it\u2019s easy to overlook a lot of things that I have been blessed with. A roof over my head, warm clothes , a hot meal on the table, and loaning money to me for emergency movie trips or dinners with friends. I\u2019ve always had a place to call home and a support system to help me when the chips are down.<\/p>\n

4. \u201cSome days I haven\u2019t been okay.\u201d<\/h2>\n

I\u2019ve had a lot of days that I\u2019ve felt less than adequate and I\u2019ve felt like the world is falling apart. With a constant barrage of \u2018perfection\u2019 being thrown at us from social media accounts and constant access to the internet, my self esteem can get flushed away pretty easily. I can never tell you when I\u2019m having a bad day, so I\u2019ve lied to you numerous times to avoid being fussed over.<\/p>\n

5. \u201cI\u2019m sorry, too.\u201d<\/h2>\n

As a result of that, I\u2019m sorry for all the times that I\u2019ve lied to you, even if they\u2019re a little white lie. I\u2019m sorry for all of the times I would have made you upset and made you suffer any sort of heartache at my expense. It\u2019s never been my intention to hurt you, so I hope that you can forgive me.<\/p>\n

6. \u201cThere\u2019s no such thing as a perfect parent, but you\u2019re both pretty damn good.\u201d<\/h2>\n

I get it. It\u2019s impossible to be a perfect parent. When you were new to parenting you were\u00a0told that you \u2018shouldn\u2019t do this\u2019, or \u2018you shouldn\u2019t do that\u2019. You may have been told that you\u2019re \u2018too strict\u2019 or \u2018not as fun as ______ parents\u2019. But, there is no other parents I could ask for. You guys have always loved me and supported my decisions while offering words of wisdom that you gathered through your own experience. Without you, I wouldn\u2019t be the person I am today.<\/p>\n

7. \u201cIf I grow up to be half the person you are, I\u2019ll be a success.\u201d<\/h2>\n

You taught me to stand up for what I believe in, but to be open to new ideas and suggestions. Your capacity for love knows no bounds, and if I can reciprocate just one ounce of the love that you graced me with through my life, then I know that I\u2019ll be a good person. Thank you for always trying to get me to see the silver lining in every problem and for teaching me how to find a solution, no matter what it took.<\/p>\n

8. \u201cYou don\u2019t value yourself enough.\u201d<\/h2>\n

You might not be a technologically savvy as our younger generation, but that doesn\u2019t mean you aren\u2019t intelligent. Without you, I wouldn\u2019t have learned to tie my shoes, read a book, or even how to do my taxes. I know how to not starve of hunger because you taught me to cook. You taught me the art of conversation through quick-witted banter. You\u2019ve aged, but your smile still lifts my spirit and projects an inner beauty that in unparalleled.<\/p>\n

9. \u201cThe thought of saying goodbye frightens me.\u201d<\/h2>\n

All I\u2019ve ever known in life is that home is where you are. The idea of having to say goodbye to the two prominent figured in my life breaks my heart.\u00a0 You\u2019ve always been there for me through the good times and the bad. You have made me laugh and held me when I cried. When you\u2019re gone, there\u2019s going to be this empty space inside of me that can never be filled.<\/p>\n

10. \u201cYou are loved.\u201d<\/h2>\n

Mum, Dad, you were my first loves and nothing will ever change that. We may have butted heads over things, but looking back, they\u2019re such trivial things to get upset over. I hope you\u2019ve never doubted for once in your life that you were never loved as much as you loved me. We\u2019ll grow older, and I\u2019ll be there for you just as you were for me. Above everything else, I need you to know that I love you. Always.<\/p>\n
