This Is Why You Should Do Yoga

mm
Every week, no matter what, I force myself to go and every week, after the 45-minute yoga class, I am so damn happy that I did. This is why you should do yoga.

I’m not the first to say this and I won’t be the last. Everybody should be doing yoga! It’s been a mere few months since I started doing yoga, and without a doubt, each week there’s some excuse for why I can’t go. I’m too tired, I’ve been working too much, I have a headache, I have an injury, I’m too emotionally drained, I feel a cold coming on, I’ve had a bad day. The list goes on. But every week, no matter what, I force myself to go and every week, after the 45-minute yoga class, I am so damn happy that I did. This is why you should do yoga!

Yoga has been proven to have a huge range of benefits for your mind and body.

Including perfecting your posture, other benefits include building strength, promoting blood flow, boosting immunity, increasing serotonin levels, assisting focus, relaxing, improving quality of sleep and easing all sorts of pain.

After each yoga class (and during!) my muscle tension disappears.

Whatever I was stressed about beforehand simply doesn’t matter anymore, I have a clear and focused mind, I have a new lease of energy and I feel just generally wonderful.

Oh, and did I mention it gives you a great excuse to wear comfortable active wear for the whole day?

For uni students who are sitting for long hours typing away on their laptops, eating poorly due to funds (or laziness or lack of time…), living under enormous pressure, trying to work around the clock to support themselves, leading to messed up sleeping patterns and an all-round less than ideal state of well-being. I can’t think of anything better than yoga. So this is why you should do yoga.

Can’t afford it?

Look for free yoga events in your city, some universities even have weekly classes for students! Download an app and do it at home. Get a good deal at a gym that offers classes. (I pay $9.50 a week for unlimited gym and class access!). Ask for a yoga studio membership from the parents for your birthday or Christmas. The money it will save you is well worth it.
