Beauty isn’t just about a good skincare routine, expensive beauty treatments or a weekly manicure. Those things are the icing on the cake! Beauty starts from within. By eating and cooking with healthier ingredients, you can ensure that your body is getting what it needs. These are 10 healthy foods you should cook with for better hair skin and nails!
2. Flaxseed oil
This contains omega 3 which will keep your hair, skin and nails be soft, smooth and shiny. It’s like moisturizing from the inside out! Try it as a salad dressing (don’t cook with it – heat will make it less effective!).
2. Extra virgin olive oil
Full of essential fatty acids and vitamin E, olive oil is cheaper than flaxseed and another way to achieve healthy hair and soft skin. Again, try to avoid heating it up! Toss veggies in olive oil after cooking or drizzle it over meat.
3. Tuna or salmon
Fish is full of omega 3 for plump, glowy skin and shiny hair. It is also a great source of protein which is essential for long, healthy hair and nails. Add tuna to salad or creamy pasta dishes, and try baked salmon with veggies for a healthy meal.
4. Dark green foods (spinach, kale, watercress)
These are a good plant source of vitamin A, which is especially great for oily and blemish-prone skin! Try a green smoothie if you’re brave, or lightly fry with olive oil and garlic to make them more appetizing.
Eggs are a great source of vegetarian protein as well as biotin for longer, stronger hair and nails. They also contain vitamin A which is essential for great skin. Boiled, scrambled or poached, they’re easy to use and pretty cheap!
6. Red meat
Sorry, vegetarians! Red meat contains protein and iron, which are both essential for hair and nail growth, a healthy complexion and to avoid dark under-eye circles. You don’t need to eat a big hunk of steak. Try some beef strips in a stir-fry or sliced steak in a salad.
Not only are they delicious, but they’re also full of zinc, which is awesome for irritated skin, eczema and acne. They’re also great for strengthening hair. Try toasting them and eating them as a snack, or add them to stir-fries.
This trendy fruit (yep, it is technically a fruit) is full of fatty acids and vitamin E for moisturizing hair and skin from within. Eat it raw with a sprinkle of salt and pepper, mashed on toast, or slice it and top a pizza with it.
9. Red capsicum
Red Capsicum is super high in antioxidants and vitamin C for healthy, glowy skin. Try cutting a capsicum in half and filling it with a mixture of rice, lentils, mince, grated cheese and whatever else you desire. Then bake for a delicious stuffed capsicum dish!
10. Kidney beans
These little red beans are high in zinc for clear skin and strong nails, plus protein for longer hair. Eat them in salads, on nachos or in tacos and burritos. What a great excuse to eat Mexican food!
A healthy diet is the best way to boost your beauty. Make sure you eat enough good foods and load up on protein and veggies to look your best!
