15 Apartment Make Over Tricks That Are Worth Trying

Apartment make over tricks may not appear easy, and sometimes they take a little bit of time before you are inspired. There are several different ways to update, remodel, or improve the appearance of your room or apartment. Some are easy, some are time-consuming, but nonetheless, your apartment (and visitors) will thank you! Let’s get started!

1. Paint Job

Ok, for real, let’s give this one some thought. My sister and I share a bedroom, and she just recently decided to paint our room light pink. Being the easy-going person that I am, I agreed… this one is not a trick, and totally worth it! Yes, you will need to move all of your furniture to the center of the room, and throw sheets over what you don’t want to get dirty. All in all, you are looking at a weekend job. Not super quick, but if your room needs it, this inexpensive project can be totally worth the hassle!

2. Clear The Clutter

This tip may not be what everyone wants to hear, but you will be happy you did it. I am someone who easily accumulates clutter in my bedroom, on my desk, dresser, you name it. The trick is to keep everyday things on your dresser, like deodorant, makeup bags, glasses, and so on, that way you don’t have a bunch of magazines and clutter just hanging around. It is tricky, I know. Just start simple, and work your way into organizing your entire room. This could be an office, bedroom, or living room, wherever you find that clutter accumulates the most. Once everything is in its place, stick to that. Always put things back to avoid the mess from coming back!

3. Update Your Rugs

Rugs are one essential piece to any room in your house or apartment. Purchasing new rugs or even welcome mats can really help the overall vibe of your place. If you check out places like Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and so on, you can make out with some sweet deals under or around $100.

4. Curtains Galore

Another seemingly small accent to your home are your curtains. You may want to keep the same style, but get a different color, or redesign the look entirely. Whatever you decide, some certain designs can become obsolete, so updating them isn’t a bad idea. Check out Target or Walmart!

5. Pillows And Blankets

Never underestimate the power of pillows and blankets in your home. If you ever want to update or remodel, this is definetly something quick, easy, and cheap! I purchased a couple of decorative pillows at Walmart for under $20, and decorating your room can be really fun!

6. Plants

Plants add natural beauty and a sense of peace and relaxation to any room. Choose between a modern white orchid or a large pot plant for a central location in your home. When it comes to apartment makeover tricks, adding a couple of plans throughout your place can really make a huge difference! Place them on a window sill, in your bathroom, in your bedroom, or wherever you feel would look the best!

7. Mirrors

Likewise with adding plants, adding mirrors to your apartment is a great make over trick. Not to mention, adding mirrors to a room or apartment automatically has the effect of making your space seem bigger. You can do this by adding multiple small mirrors for decoration, a classic full body length, or a rectangular mirror in your living room. Have fun with this, because decor, after all, is fun!

8. Wall Art

One of the easiest and quickest ways to remodel a room is to add wall art. This can be done in a few different ways: frame a picture of you and your friends, hang them up, or you can head to any department store and look for an aesthetically pleasing modern wall hanging. Either or is fine!

9. Clocks

The image of clocks adds a modern and sophisticated feel to just about any room. Place a large clock on the wall for an obvious updated decor, or find your own personalized way to add a clock to any central place in your apartment.

10. Bowl With Flower Petals

Adding a vase or bowl with flower petals or seashells is a great way to add decor to your bedroom, living room, office space, or anywhere in your home or apartment. I used the roses that my boyfriend had given me for Valentine’s day and put the petals in a vase.

11. Utilize Storage

One easy apartment make over trick is to utilize storage, as a means for decoration. For example, I bought a couple of decorative bins from Tj Maxx, and used them for actual storage and organization, while serving the purpose of decoration. You can also do this by adding wall shelves and placing a picture frame or vase of flowers in there.

12. Re-Think Your Lighting

No one likes the thought of sitting in a dark room. While yes, lighting is essential, you can also use it as a means to brighten up your space! Choose from white Christmas lights, a hanging chandelier style, or a new lamp shade for your desk. This can really help the overall vibe of your space!

13. A Little Candle Never Hurt Anyone

Candles aren’t just used for the bath, they actually make great accents to any home or apartment. Serving as natural light, this sweet-smelling fire can actually brighten up any room.

14. Move Some Things Around

When I hear someone say makeover, I always think of furniture being moved and rearranged. At absolutely zero cost, and within just a couple hours, you can literally change your apartment entirely!

15. Consider Updating Your Bedding

Last but not least, getting a new comforter or bedspread can totally help in the makeover process. I got a new white comforter a couple months back, and not only is it super comfy, but it also really helps in the makeover process! Hit up Tj Maxx for the best styles at a low price.
