10 Amazing Camping Spots You Must Visit

There are many reasons why people love to go camping. It helps one feel more centered in nature, it allows you to get fresh air, it is a good activity for spending quality time with loved ones, the list goes on. However, I think that the biggest reason that everyone should go camping at least one time in their lifetimes is because of the beautiful natural scenery that you get to take in. We have become so disconnected with nature that seeing it in all its glory is honestly breathtaking. If you are interested in camping but just don’t know where to go, you’re in luck because I have compiled the 1o most amazing camping spots that you seriously must visit. Visit these spots and feel both awestruck and recharged!

1. Zion National Park

Visit Zion Nation Park and hike trails like the Narrows, Watchman Trail, or Angels Landing. This breath-taking campsite combines desert beauty and peaceful water banks making it a must-see destination. The open expanses of land and the big open sky will make you feel centered and relax in no time.

2. Joshua Tree National Park

The desert does not get enough appreciation for how amazing the views there actually are. The sky is unparalleled there, especially at night. With nothing to cloud the sky, the stars shine so brightly and clearly at night. This place is described as “The Place Where Two Deserts Meet,” and that is because it is here that Two distinct desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado, come together. This makes for a fascinating variety of plants and animals to be found there. The area is also sculpted by strong winds and occasional torrents of rain. Dark night skies, a rich cultural history, and surreal geologic features add to the wonder of this vast wilderness. Make sure to visit here during the cooler months though as it does get extremely hot here.

3. Big Sur

If you love trees and you love the beach, then this is the perfect camping site for you. Big, fluffy green trees encompassing the deep blue ocean is a sight to behold. Located near Carmel, Monterey, and, not too far up ahead, San Francisco, this camping spot is surrounded by areas filled with activities. The Big Sure camping grounds even offer inner tube rentals services for floating on the Big Sur River. Take some time to stop by here and appreciate this amazing scenery.

4. Big Bear Lakes

Big Bear Lakes is often too under-rated. The camping spots here are prime and there are so many camping, hiking, and biking trails to choose from. There is even a lake nearby that you can go fishing in. Big Bear is full of trees and is one of the spots where there are fewer crowds. This campsite is the perfect spot for a first-time camper who wants to dip their toes in the water.

5. Mammoth Lakes

Mammoth Lakes is one of the most fun camping spots partially because of the hot springs that are located there. The gorgeous views and the fun activities make this camping spot a must-visit. Hiking trails, lake-fun, and hot springs? What more can anyone ask for!

6. Sedona

The red rocks of Sedona are so unique. The vibes that come off of Sedona too are just…whimsical, to say the least. It feels like such a spiritual place and you will surely be able to rebalance yourself here. The red scenery, the blue sky, and the warm winds make this camping spot feel special. Visit here for beautiful views, fun, and a sense of spirituality.  Stargazing, fishing, and boating are the top activities done here but taking in the scenery and enjoying a walk around the area could easily be just as fun. Whatever you are into, Sedona can provide it.

7. Crystal Cove State Park

This camping spot is a beach-lovers dream come true. Camp right next to the beach and enjoy the sound, sight, and smell of the ocean at all hours of the day. Witness the sunrise and sunset upon the horizon of the ocean. Play in the water all day and then sleep under the stars at night. This camping spot is for those that never want to be separated from the water.

9. Sequoia National Park

Want to be surrounded by trees that grow to be as tall as the eye can see, and sometimes even taller. If so, then Sequoia National Park is the perfect place for you. Be surrounded by massive trees, hike trails, and be one with nature. This camping spot will give you an experience like no other, making you feel super small amongst nature. Sara Bowers

Hello! My name is Sara Bowers and I am a Senior at Azusa Pacific University where I am double majoring in Allied Health and Honors Humanities and minoring in Psychology. As a young girl, I loved to write and English became my favorite subject very quickly. The sciences also intrigued me and I was often told to choose one path, but I did not want to sacrifice either of my passions. It turns out I didn't have to and thanks to the many novels read in my Humanities courses and the writing prompts I tackled alongside them, my love of writing was further affirmed and I grew more confident that I made the correct decision in pursuing both paths. I have a heart for helping people by any means necessary, so if that means helping someone with a physical ailment, informing someone of the best places to eat, or giving tips to calm anxiety, I am all for it. So, there you have it - that's me! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to get to know me a little bit! I hope you stop by and check out more of my articles in the future!
