Alcoholic Floats That Will Sate Your Sweet Tooth All Summer Long

Truth be told, aside from the classic root beer float, soda and ice cream can be a bit of an acquired taste, and when that includes alcohol, even doubly so. For those who possess said acquired taste, or maybe just an adventurous sweet tooth, look no further than this fine collection of alcoholic floats that will sate your sweet tooth all summer long! From orange creamsicle to a spiked version of the classic root beer float, you can’t go wrong!

Dirty Shirley Float

A heavy, boozy twist on a classic mocktail that will have you reminiscing about simpler times full of summer fun and cavities. A traditional Shirley Temple would call for a lemon-lime soda such as sprite, however, I like to use ginger ale when I’m mixing it with alcohol, as it does a better job of concealing an otherwise overwhelming boozy flavor. To make it, you will be needing the following ingredients:

Ginger ale

Hard cherry seltzer

Vanilla or cherry ice cream

1/2 cup of maraschino cherries

2 tablespoons of the juice from the maraschino cherries

1 tablespoon of grenadine

Whipped cream

In the glass, throw in your grenadine, cherry juice, and lime juice, as well as half of the cherries.
With consideration for the space in your glass that the ice cream will take, fill the remaining space with half ginger ale and half seltzer.

Add ice cream and remaining cherries.

Top with whipped cream and you’re done!

Spiked Berry Cream Soda Float

Here’s a tasty recipe for our list of alcoholic floats, brought to you by Smirnoff! All you’re really going to need is some cream soda, berry ice cream, condensed milk, hella berries, whipped cream, and of course Smirnoff red, white and berry flavored. If you cant find a decent berry ice cream, you can always switch to vanilla, and of course, there’s aplenty of other berry vodkas if red, white and berry isn’t in season. It’s creamy, refreshing, and full of tasty summer berries – perfect for a warm evening barbecue!

Not Your Alcoholic Father’s Root Beer Float

This addition to our alcoholic floats is basically a super-booze rootbeer float. Its got booze from the Smirnoff and from the spiked root beer, and all-around deliciousness coming at you from every side! Careful though, that deliciousness is dangerous. You’re going to need just a few ingredients for this one:

Spiked root beer

2-3 scoops of vanilla ice cream

3 tablespoons of Smirnoff root beer float flavored vodka

Whipped cream

Simply put everything into a frosty mug, ice cream last. Enjoy!

Lime Sherbet Gin and Tonic Float

If you’re looking for something summery, delicious, and outside of the box, look no further than this float! It’s more on the zesty side but still good for the discerning sweet tooth with a unique palate. If that sounds like these sound like the kind of alcoholic floats you could get into, check out the full recipe at 84th and 3rd.

Spiked Cherry Float

What more need be said about this addition to our alcoholic floats? It’s creamy, cherry-licious and perfect for a hot summer day!

To make it, you’ll need the following ingredients:

A hand full of black cherries halved

1 cherry soda

2-3 scoops of ice cream (cherry or vanilla)

3 tablespoons of vodka

Whipped cream

Throw everything into a glass, ice cream last.

Top with whipped cream and there you have it!

Irish Brownie Sunday

Here’s an interesting one amongst alcoholic floats: the Irish Brownie Sunday. It’s super boozy, not to mention rich and sweet enough to make a dentist cringe, so it’s perfect for sweet-, choco-, and alcoholics alike! That said, it’s definitely unique – between the dark stout and the whiskey, it’s stiff, sweet, and as Irish as a bag of potatoes on a Sunday morning!

Dirty Orange Creamsicle Float

Simple, yet delicious – this addition to our alcoholic floats is about as close to summer as one can get in a drink. I mean, what could possibly scream summer more than orange creamsicles? Throw in some vodka and you’ve got yourself a good time in a cup! You’ll only need three ingredients:

2-3 scoops of vanilla ice cream

1 can of orange soda

3 tablespoons of whipped cream or cake flavored vodka

Just throw everything together in your cup, ice cream last. Enjoy!

Buttered Rum Float

This definitely isn’t your everyday root beer float. Between the salted caramel sauce and dark rum, it’s bound to be a tasty treat sure to rot away any sweet tooth! That said, aside from those ingredients it’s just a basic ass root beer float!

Check out the full recipe at the Style Me Pretty Living website, or click the link here!

Spiked Affogato

Affogato is an Italian treat that’s generally just ice cream in coffee. Throw a little booze in there and you’ve got yourself one tasty nightcap.  You’re going to need these three ingredients to make it:

Freshly brewed espresso

1 fat-ass scoop of vanilla or coffee-flavored ice cream or gelato

3 tablespoons of bourbon

To make this delicious drink here’s all you need as far as directions:

Brew your espresso. It needs to be fresh and hot so the ice cream gets a good melt going on.

Add the bourbon, followed by your coffee or vanilla-flavored ice cream.

Dunk the ice cream with your spoon for a sec and serve!

If you’ve got a tough enough sweet tooth and a taste for soda and ice cream to boot, you’re definitely going to want these alcoholic floats in your life as soon as possible. What’s more, between the fizzy and refreshing soda and the cold creamy ice cream, there’s nothing better for beating the summer heat.
