A Guide To Overcoming Your Sexual Anxiety

Whether you have been having sex for years or you still have not had that first time, everyone experiences anxiety about sex. Here is a guide to overcoming your sexual anxieties!

1. Be Sure Of Yourself

First thing’s first – only start having sex if you are completely sure you want to. You may feel pressure from others to enter (or re-enter) the world of sex, but you do not have to. Ultimately, if you try to have sex with someone when you know you do not want to, it will only make things awkward for both of you.

2. Trust The Person You Are With

Sex puts you in a very vulnerable position. You are placing your body in the hands of another person. As such, if you experience sexual anxiety, it is important to trust the person you are with. Get to know them first and build a connection with them. Once you are comfortable with them in your everyday life, you will become more comfortable with the idea of having sex with them. Don’t rush it. Let the relationship blossom naturally.

3. Get A Suitable Birth Control

Undoubtedly one of the most stressful parts of having sex is the fear of you or your partner getting pregnant. If you are having the kind of sex where this is possible, make sure you sort out a suitable birth control. If you have never been placed on hormonal birth control before, give yourself some time to find the kind that is right for you. This will push the fear of pregnancy to the back of your mind and allow you to focus on the act itself.

4. Start With Whatever Is Most Comfortable

For some people, it is easier to dive right in and do the full deed. Others would rather start with something less intense, like foreplay or using their hands and mouths. You do not need to jump straight to the kinky stuff. Start slowly and build your way up to the more heated acts.

5. Learn To Love Your Body

As the age old saying goes, you cannot expect others to love you if you do not love yourself. Whilst that is not entirely true, it is a relevant point here. One of the main reasons people experience anxiety about sex is because they are not comfortable with their body and they do not believe they are attractive. The thing about sexual attraction is that everyone has different tastes. No matter how you look, you will be someone’s perfect person. Learn to love your body and you will soon feel much more confident – and there is nothing more sexy than confidence!

6. Buy Some Sexy Clothes/Lingerie

Following on from that last point, sexy clothing will automatically make you feel more confident. If you are unhappy with your body, seeing yourself in some kinky lingerie will completely change your opinion. It does not have to be a bra and panties, either. There are plenty of gorgeous nightdresses and playsuits which you can wear in the bedroom. Throw on a pair of stockings and some heels and nobody will be able to resist you.

7. Do Your Research

If you are reading this article, chances are you have already been researching how to overcome your sexual anxiety. This is nothing to be ashamed of. Sometimes sexual anxiety comes more from a fear of the unknown than anything else. Will it hurt? What if I don’t know what to do? How does it taste? If you are worried about any of those questions, just ask! Type them into your Internet search bar and there will be hundreds of results which will help put your mind at rest. It is not as scary as you think.
