5 Reasons To Attend A Sporting Event In Denver

Denver has so much to offer. When people think of Denver, Colorado they probably think of the mountains and snow and skiing. But a lot of people don’t think of Denver as a metropolitan city with a vibrant sports life. I am a Denver native and could remember watching the Zephyrs playing in the original Mile High stadium long before the Colorado Rockies were in existence. I remember watching Elway play and Joe Sakic take home the Stanley Cup. Colorado has some rich sports history and we are mighty proud of it.

We Have a Lot of Teams

Denver is a sports capital. Having multiple major league teams there is always something going on. Home to champion teams such as the Denver Broncos football and Colorado Avalanche Hockey as well as Colorado Rockies baseball, Denver Nuggets Basketball, Colorado Rapids Soccer and Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse, there is never a shortage of teams or events happening. Denver is a really proud sports city. If you are visiting, check out a sports calendar. Chances are there is a team or two playing.

It Can Be Inexpensive

Broncos tickets are going to be the most expensive. It makes sense with only 7-8 home games a year it is harder to get tickets to. But if the Broncos are having a winning season, Mile High stadium is a fun place to be. The atmosphere of that stadium is unreal. But if you want cheap, check out the other teams. Even when they are having a winning or playoff season, tickets aren’t really that expensive if you know where to look. You can find tickets to another team such as the Rockies or avalanche for $20 or less. In the summer it never hurts to spend a gorgeous summer night at Coors Field. And the spending an evening in the Pepsi center for the avalanche or Nuggets is always a fun night.

The Metro Area Is Not That Big For a Big City.

The Denver Metro Area is not that big. Walking to one of the stadiums is not a hard thing to access. Coors Field, the Pepsi Center, and Mile High Stadium are all in a row downtown. They are easy to access from Light rail and easy to find parking a small walking distance away for a cheaper price. Just know that Broncos games are always going to be packed and give yourself time for any team if its playoff time. The only team that really doesn’t play in the metro area is The Colorado Rapids soccer team. You will need a different type of transportation such as an Uber to get there.

You Get to Watch Future Legends Play

John Elway has the Broncos reputation. These were the days I grew up watching the Broncos. When Peyton Manning came along to win another Superbowl, it was a very exciting time to be inside Mile High Stadium. I was 12 when the Rockies came into existence. Carmelo Anthony started his career in Denver. I have seen so many amazing players come and go, but it is exciting when you see a future Hall-of-Famer play right before your eyes. We have a lot of sports teams. We may not have the Yankees or Bulls, but we have our fair share of legends come through our cities.

Playoff Time Is a Big Deal

Playoffs in Denver are a big deal. I have walked into a Coors Field with playoff vibes vibrating like crazy to watch someone come in and take off their Broncos jersey from the game just ending at Mile High Stadium to switch to their Purple Rockies jersey in time for the big game. People get serious. People get real. I am superstitious and it varies with each team. It is hard to live in Denver and not be a fan of some team since there are so many to choose from.

When you come to Denver, what interests you? Are you a football fan? Or baseball? You will not be disappointed in catching a sporting event in Denver.
