The Beach Body Workout Plan You Need To Follow This Year

As the snow begins to melt and days get longer, the anticipation for summer builds. Thoughts of long weekends reclining poolside or running into wide blue ocean waves is enticing, but for some the thought of bearing all in a bikini can make you wish winter would never end.

Here’s a few tips and tricks to gear your body into shape before summer – without endless hours on the treadmill or a diet of only egg whites.

Find a fitness regimen that works for you.

Don’t purchase a fitness plan off Instagram to find it’s a huge time commitment – not to mention you have never done half of the exercises. Start with something small, and implement it into your daily routine.

Add in at least 30 minutes of moderate cardio per day for optimal results. Try out biking, yoga, a walk or jog and make space in your day. Whatever is your speed, and you can keep up with for the next few months is essential.

The urge to go overboard to get washboard abs can appeal, but often leads to bingeing or yoyo-ing weight. Stick with something simple and keep at it instead.

Add a 10-15 minute sculpting session in when you can.

Grab some resistance bands, or simply a towel from under your sink to lay on. It doesn’t need to be excruciating or an all-out workout, just do what you enjoy and will help you build your bikini body.

Squats, hip thrust, donkey kicks, push-ups, and crunches are all staple exercises that can help lean out your muscles for summer time. Turn on some Netflix and hip thrust away while catching up on Grey’s, or do calf raises while you shower! Adding in exercise doesn’t have to mean hours spent at the gym.

Keep consistent with a moderate resistance work out and you’d be surprised at the difference it can make!

Cut out the unnecessary junk from your diet.

As hard as it is to hear, it’s repeated so often because it’s true. Having a killer summer body is 20% working out and 80% diet. You don’t have to make drastic changes to see a difference – start with the small stuff and work your way up.

Cut out dairy creamers from your coffee and snack on some veggies or fruit over chips and candy bars. If you’re already a health nut and want to lose a few lbs before break, try tracking your calories in an app. While you might be killing it at getting all your essential nutrients, portion control can be difficult for even the most health-conscious, and tracking can help keep you accountable.

Not news to any of you but.. drink water.

And not just one or two bottles a day. Shoot for a gallon. Yes, a gallon.

Oftentimes mindless snacking or even late night binges can be a result of dehydration. Not only that, but water flushes out toxins from your system, and keeps any bloating at bay. Bonus: your skin will glow in time for the summer season!

Your bikini body is beautiful either way.

Rather than crash dieting or exercising for hours every day, implement enjoyable and healthy routines that you can maintain year round. Any drastic changes to your body in a few months are mostly unsustainable. Add a daily cardio session, light resistance workouts from home, and do your best to cut out added sugar and super fatty foods from your diet.

Start small and take progress pictures often – even tiny tweaks in your diet and health can change your body.
