It’s safe to say that IKEA is one of, if not the largest home furniture seller in the world. With easy to construct, modern furniture, odds are, once in your life, you’ve bought a piece or know someone who has. And it’s just as likely that there’s something in the IKEA catalogue that you didn’t know you needed. Here are ten of them.
1. Billy Bookcase
This is an IKEA item I think every who is starting to buy their own furniture should have. The BILLY bookshelf, while plain looking, is adjustable, allowing owners to change the height and width of the item however they see fit, all for the starting price of $60, and extensions being less than $25. This is an especially good item for those who have growing collections of books, comics, or DVD’s and video games. When one shelf gets filled, just add another; rinse and repeat as necessary.
2. Kallax Shelf Unit
The KALLAX shelf unit is another IKEA item that has a wide variety of shapes and uses, much like the previous BILLY bookcase. You could have in the bedroom, living room, etc., and you could store all manner of things on them. With prices as low $39 for a 2×2 cube and as high as $109 for a 4×4 cube, you can really get your money’s worth with this item.

. This LACK side table is one of IKEA’s oldest items, priced at only $15. Lightweight, this item is a good one to have for filling out the living room. Yes, it’s cheap, but you be surprised how long it will last.

This item isn’t the most stylish, nor is it the most expensive IKEA bed frame, but the TRYSIL is one of the most comfortable. With it’s curved bed frame, it allows an easy reading experience. Another TRYSIL IKEA item, the nightstand, at only $39.99, is an item I would also recommend, if not for college students starting out, then for those who need a small place by their bedside to store some of their items. Easy to make, and just as easy to move. And it would match the TRYSIL bed frame you just bought as well, adding a little more style to your room.
6. Rigga Clothes Rack
Another versatile IKEA item, specifically one for those without very good closets, the RIGGA clothes rack, priced only at $13, has an adjustable height. Useful for those with varying heights of clothing and suits. Add some hanging shelves, and you can make the best use out of some compact space.
7. Micke Desk
I myself have this IKEA item, and it served me fine throughout my time in college. The reason I put the MICKE Desk on this list is because not only is the desk easy to put together, it’s easy to disassemble and put back together again. When I moved out from my college apartment to my new place of residence, it hardly took me half an hour to construct my desk.
8. Ribba Picture Frames
At some point, you’re going to want frames for your pictures. 10. Marjun Blackout Curtains
Whenever I have curtains in my home, I always try to make sure they’re thick enough to block out the light. I hate curtains that are nothing better than pretty, see-through pieces of cloth.
