10 Books By Public Figures We All Should Read

I don’t know about you, but the only types of books I’ve been hearing about lately are self help books. If for some reason you have yet to hear about these types of books, they are exactly as their title suggests – books that help you live a better life and help give you a better, more positive perspective on life. There are so many different self help books available, though, so it can be difficult to figure out which ones are the best. Lucky for you, I’ve done all the dirty work for you and have compiled a list of the best self help books that I have seen people in my own personal life read and that influencers have recommended. Here are some of the best self help books.

1. You Are A Badass By Jen Sincero

This best-selling self help book has inspired millions of people all over the world. In this book, Sincero helps readers identify and change their self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors that stop them from getting what they want and, in turn, creating an awesome life that they completely and totally love. I think we could all benefit from reading this book. This is one of the best self help books!

2. The Power Of Now By Eckhart Tolle

This book, as the title suggests, acts as a guide for day-to-day living and stresses the importance of living in the present moment and avoiding thoughts of the past or future. In the age of technology, it’s fair to say that everyone struggles with living in the moment and everyone is always stressed about something or giving their attention to something that isn’t even there yet (I know I’m guilty of this.) I see it all the time – people at concerts watching the show through their phone screen as they record it instead of just looking up, people at social gatherings leaving early because they’re thinking about how early they have to be up for work in the morning instead of enjoying the time with their friends and/or family, and countless other instances. We all live such fast-paced lives; I’d say it’s about time we all learn to slow down a bit and enjoy the moment we’re in while we’re in it by reading this book. This is one of the best self help books!

3. The Power Of Positive Thinking By Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

In this best seller, Dr. Peale demonstrates the power of faith in action. He gives readers practical techniques to energize their lives and give them initiative to carry out their hopes and ambitions. In this book, readers will learn how to: expect and get the best, believe in yourself and develop the power to achieve your goals, break the worry habit and live a more relaxed life, improve your personal and professional relationships, and more. I’d say this is a book we all need in our lives.

4. The 4-Hour Work Week By Timothy Ferriss

This book goes against the old concept of retirement by emphasizing that there is no need to wait. This book is a blueprint for escaping the rat race, experiencing high-end world travel, and earning a monthly five-figure income with zero management. Ferriss gives readers his own personal experience of how he went from $40,000 per year and 80 hours a week to $40,000 per month and 4 hours per week, as well as many other tips and tricks for more success for less work. Sounds pretty great, right? This is one of the best self help books!

5. The Road Less Traveled By Morgan Scott Peck

I think it’s fair to say that most of us try to avoid confronting and solving problems because it’s typically a painful process. However, it is that exact avoidance that causes more pain and inability to grow both mentally and spiritually. Dr. M. Scott Peck uses his own professional experience to help readers realize that facing their difficulties and suffering through changes can help us achieve a higher level of self-understanding. This is a book that shows readers how to embrace reality while also achieving serenity and a richer existence.
