Want to take your significant other on a date but don’t necessarily have all the cash to treat them to a fancy restaurant? We get it, dates can get expensive! Most of the time, guys can easily spend over $50 while treating their girlfriends. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, check out these cute cheap dates in LA ideas that you can plan without breaking the bank.

1. Karaoke

Karaoke is a fun and simple activity, even for those of you who aren’t the best singers. You can select from over a 100 song choices and sing your heart out with your significant other. Don’t worry, each group has an individual, sound-proof room so others can’t hear you. While singing, you can also order some small appetizers and side dishes, and some alcohol if you’re old enough. Karaoke lounges—such as Feel Karaoke, SoopSok Karaoke and Recital Karaoke—can be found in L.A.’s Koreatown. Most of these lounges come with hourly ratings that are less than $20, and are especially cheaper in the afternoons on weekdays.

2. California Science Center

Interested in adding an academic aspect to your day out? Take your significant other to the California Science Center located at Exposition Park—and the best part is that there’s free admission! The California Science Center is a great way for you and your date to learn some new science facts. The interactive center covers an array of topics, ranging from the different ecosystems in our world to the human body. This is one of the cheap dates in LA.

3. Griffith Park Hiking Trail

Maybe you and your significant other need a break from always eating out and dressing up nicely. Try having an outdoor date at the Griffith Park Hiking Trails. Planning this date will be a lot easier as you only need to throw on some gym clothes and comfortable shoes, but don’t forget to pack water bottles, a first-aid kit and some snacks in case you get hungry. Going on a hike with your significant other can get you away from the busy city life and give some quality time with each other.

4. 3rd Street Promenade

Shopping is super fun until you see the astronomical price tags, so why not take your date to 3rd Street Promenade to go window shopping? It’s a good way to learn what your date’s taste in fashion is and for you to spend some good quality time with them. While you’re at the Promenade, you can also incorporate a game where you and your significant other choose full outfits for each other to try on. Window shopping is both a cheap and fun activity that anyone can enjoy. Afterwards, you can take a stroll to the Santa Monica Pier as it’s less than a 5 minute walk from the Promenade. This is one of the cheap dates in LA.
