1. You know Sunni Sky’s is the only acceptable place to get ice cream.

Between the months of March and November, you can expect the line to be out the door. No matter how long the line is, you WILL stand in it. This quaint, little trailer of an ice cream store, has the best ice cream in the world and no one can tell you differently.

2. You get into arguments on the correct pronunciation of Chalybeate Springs.

There are at least 3 different ways to say it and people will defend their pronunciation until the end. No one is sure of the actual correct way to say it.

3. You hate getting asked the question, “where are you from?”

This one is pretty self-explanatory. Angier is such a weird town name, and no one ever knows how to say it or where it is. When asked this question, we all just say, “south of Raleigh”.

4. You got WAY too excited when the second stop light was added to downtown.

It’s hard living in a town with only one stoplight so when the second one was added; the whole town went crazy. It was the best thing added to the town since the McDonalds.

5. You know who just drove past just by the sound of their truck.

The loud mufflers and revving engines let you know exactly who just drove by and the parking lots are always filled with unnecessarily large trucks with American flags hanging off the back.

6. Being late to class because you got behind a tractor on the way to school is a completely legitimate excuse.

When you live in a town surrounded by farms, you have to expect to get behind a tractor every once in a while, and all you can do about it is sit back and enjoy the ride.

7. You know every other high school in the county is better than Harnett Central High School at football but you’re never going to admit it.

Friday Night Lights is one of the only things that can bring the people of this small town together (even though we haven’t won a game in a while.)

8. You know that Church Street is not as innocent as it sounds.

Anyone who grew up or lives in Angier knows that Church St. is not a road you want to drive or walk down. Majority of the crime that occurs, happens on Church St. From burglary to drive by shootings, Church St. is a very ironic name for this road.

9. You know you are going to see at least 4 people you know every time you go out.

Always be prepared to go into the IGA and see all your teachers from high school and everyone from your church.

10. You have to drive at least 20 minutes to get to a decent clothing store.

Holly Springs is about the closest town that has actual stores.

11. Raven Rock is basically like taking a trip to the Grand Canyon.

With the multiple hiking trails and the creeks/rivers (that you really aren’t supposed to swim in), Raven Rock is always a perfect day vacation spot.

12. You know it’s not as bad as it seems…

No matter how much you say you hate living in Angier, it will always have a special place heart and you will always come back to visit this unique, small town.
