Being able to go play on the giant wooden playground at Thompson park.

Unfortunately, the playground was taken down last year but will forever live on in our childhood hearts. You were lucky if you grew up in Watertown NY when they still had the playground at Thompson park.

The Carousel Mall

The most annoying thing when we were kids was having to drive to Syracuse to go school clothes shopping at what was then The Carousel mall which is now called Destiny USA.

You know Everyone

Growing up in a small town you know everyone and anyone and you hoped you and your friends got the same teacher every year.

North Pole NY

Growing up going to the North Pole NY to see Santa Claus even when it wasn’t Christmas time we all wanted to go and looked forward to the family trips.

Jeans Beans

Eating dinner at least once a week at Jeans Beans and getting the chicken sandwich or the fried fish. We always looked forward to getting it.

Italian recipes

Somehow every family ends up with a Italian recipe their family always makes… Even if their family doesn’t have any family members that are Italian.

Amish baked goods

During the summer months you see the Amish family’s out and about and selling baskets and bake goods and your parents always stops to get the bake goods for dessert that night.

Burrville Cider Mill

You always know when the start of fall is here because the Burrville Cider Mill opens and your weekly visits to get cider and donuts begin and your family takes their yearly photo in front of the cider mill waterfall.

Drive-Ins

Your family spent every weekend at the drive ins in Alex-Bay or Black River seeing a movie. Or two because it was cheaper than the theaters. It was so much fun to lay in the back of cars and watch a movie on the big screen… Even when we would fall asleep half way through.

Jreck Subs

Having the best subs in the world at Jreck Subs and knowing that the other sub brands couldn’t beat a meat ball sub snack meal deal with fries from Jreck Subs.
