Senior year… finally here. “Take it in”, everyone says, “it flies by.” That’s no joke, senior year went by in the blink of an eye. Doubtful

By the time Spring comes, you should be dropping your deposit to your new home for the next 4 years. How do I pick somewhere to live for the next 4 years?????? What if I’m picking the wrong place?? Everything will work out. If it doesn’t, transferring exists for a reason.

Eager

OK, it’s time to go. You’ll feel eager for a fresh start and independence. It’s on it’s way, you can basically see the finish line.

Excited

You are reaching a HUGE milestone. Of course you are excited to celebrate all summer with your best friends. The fun is about to escalate by 1000%.

Nostalgic

Lots of lasts. Last football game, last test, last prom. It’s hard to fathom that the things you took for granted are coming to an end. It makes everything a lot more meaningful. Even the last time dumping out your coffee at the doors of your highschool will feel important.

Reflective

You think about how you feel a lot more. Did I enjoy high school? Were these the best or worst days of my life? As graduation approached, I remember thinking about all the days I felt like the sun wasn’t going to come up the next day because nothing seemed to be going my way. I also thought about all the days I hoped the sun would never set. You don’t realize how much you love a place that at times gave you so many things to hate.

Overwhelmed

HOW DO I PACK MY LIFE UP AND MOVE??????? Do I need to bring every sweatshirt I own??????? Do NOT worry. You will figure it out. With organization and some help from your parents, packing can actually go quite smooth.

Confused

Sooooooo….this college thing…..How does it work again? I’m always unsure when trying new things because I don’t want to fail. I hate going somewhere or emerging myself in something that I’m not used to. I was so confused before going to college, I didn’t know what exactly to expect! But I promise, every freshmen is in the same exact boat. You will figure it out.

Fear

Graduating is a scary thing. Leaving home is scary. There is something very, very frightening about knowing Mom, Dad and sis won’t be 10 feet away. It’s unsettling but part of growing up.

Grown-up

Time to do your own laundry! Make your own bed! Pput on your big-girl or big-boy shoes and live by yourself!

Washed up

Is it socially acceptable to visit my high school a week after graduating? What about the Thanksgiving game—am I not allowed to sit in the students section anymore? I’m sorry but I am so UTTERLY attached to my high school. It’s OK to be washed up but remember there’s a world bigger than high school out there.

Happy

Hopefully, for most, you got into one of your top schools. Feel the joy, you deserve this!

Sad

The idea that all of your best friends since forever won’t be a 5 minute drive away is enough to break your heart. And your dog? Tear jerker. You won’t be the at the top of the food chain like when you were a high school senior anymore either.

Unmotivated

It’s the high school senior slump. You’re about to graduate, of course you don’t wanna take that stats test or read chapter 14 in English class. Most of you already know where you’re going to school, why do these things matter?

Nervous

Remember how you felt the night before high school? Middle school? Those butterflies in your stomach are going to flutter until move in day.

Stressed

Have I dropped my deposit on time? What about finding a roommate? How do I figure out where I’m going to live next year? My best advice is to find someone you know that’s older to help you through the process, helps relieve the stress.

Lucky

I’m sure there’s many of you who won’t agree with this one, but high school made a lot of my favorite memories for me. I’m so lucky to be leaving with a smile in my face and warmth in my heart. Friends, teachers, teammates, etc. At least one person at my high school was able to put a smile on my face every day.

Accomplished

Graduating is a big deal!!! There were nights I wasn’t sure I was going to pass that AP chem test or successfully write a paper in time. Pat yourself on the back! You got yourself here.

Optimistic

For many of you who don’t agree with #16, give this a little read: just because the past 4 years may have been painful and miserable, look to the future with lots of light. The next 4 years can be better if you’re optimistic about it.

Innocent

High school innocence. At an age where you think you know it all, what you know is so minimal to what you will learn in the next few months. You will have to learn to discover your own limits, keep yourself out of trouble, take care of yourself. It’s a huge step in growing up!

Unaware

Doing something new sucks because you are so unaware. You are going to have NO idea what to expect on move-in day. It’s gonna be the weirdest day of your life. Your parents and siblings will move you in then it’s just like “Now what?” Everyone feels this way

Childish

There are going to be times when you wish you were 5 and didn’t have to face these responsibilities. You can’t, but there are days when you can stay in bed and for a few hours, you can cuddle up like a child. You may be a high school senior, but you’re still a kid at heart.

Ambitious

Getting a degree sounds pretentious. Go get after it.

Running out of time

August will hit and pretty soon, the goodbyes will start. Your friends going to school in the south will be your first goodbyes. It comes a lot faster than you’d think. You are not a high school senior forever, after all.

Homesick

It’s really hard to describe but I felt homesick before I even left home. I was holding on so hard and so tightly because I love the town I grew up in and leaving made me feel sick. Go to your favorite ice cream place a few times extra, drive the long way home, do the things that make you feel at home.

Reminiscent

You’re gonna miss it. Even if you think you won’t, you will. You’ll gonna miss running in late because you went to Dunks before school. You’re gonna miss the bus rides to your rivalry school. You’re gonna miss freezing your butt off at the hockey rink. You will miss it all.

In-denial

You worked hard for the past 4 years for something that’s finally here. It’s happening! The day I woke up for graduation, I told myself I was not graduating. After I got my diploma, I told myself I was not graduating. I graduated! It happened! It was real.

Busy

Prom, senior banquet, senior cookout, field trips, all night-graduation party. There’s not much free time. Even if the activities seem lame, go. It’s the last time you’re going to see a lot of these people and your teachers worked hard to plan all of these senior events.

Relaxed

3 months to relax!!!!!!!!!!!! 3 months to sleep in!!!!!! NO SUMMER READING!

Relief

Remember how you felt when you had 299094 deadlines, common app, essays, work, extra curriculars? Give yourself time to breathe. It’s all over.

Grateful

As your time as a student/athlete/theatre star/etc. comes to an end, there is no greater feeling in your heart than gratefulness. In the midst of growing up, you were shaped by this town; it made you who you are. Never look back but don’t forget the road that’ll take you to this lovely place called home. You may no longer be a high school senior, but you can still call this home.
