Looking to live on-campus here at Pitt? Here are the rankings of the worst to best freshman dorms at Pitt! Seriously – this is the best ranking of University of Pittsburgh freshman dorms.

7. Holland Hall

Holland is right in the heart of the main campus and is apartment style. However, here there are only communal bathrooms and NO air-conditioning!!

6. Lothrop Hall

Lothrop holds the Nursing Living Learning Community in single rooms. However, there is freshman that live here as well. There are communal bathrooms on each floor and each room comes with a sink. If you have your heart set on not living with a roommate your 1st year, then I would highly recommend Lothrop. Just keep in mind the building is not all freshman and it is a bit of a walk to the main campus.

5. Forbes Hall

If you’re an engineering student, then welcome to Forbes Hall! Forbes is an apartment style type of dorm, meaning that your double room might adjoin with the one next door and the 2 would share a bathroom. Rather than the whole floor sharing a bathroom. Dorms are air-conditioned here and also there is a super cool rooftop patio!

4. Bruce Hall

Calling all Business students! Bruce houses the Business LLC in 4-6 person suites. Each suite comes with a fridge and microwave, as well as a private bathroom.

3. Towers A and/or B

These buildings are where the majority of your fellow freshman will be living, if not yourself. Listen, these towers are what any basic college dorm would look like. Small double rooms (with some triples), communal bathrooms, and lots and lots of freshman. They are very central to campus, in fact, the dining hall and quick zone mart are all in the downstairs lobby of the buildings.

2. Sutherland Hall

Here is where you will most likely find the Honors College students. Personally, I am a huge fan of Sutherland. It doubles along with some suites, all of which have semi-private baths. It’s air-conditioned and also has its own dining hall and quick zone! both of which are open to all students. The problem here is that it is located at the top of upper campus. But, if you are willing to make that trek up the hill every day, then go for it!

1. Nordenberg Hall

The God of all dorm buildings! I have had the privilege of living here my freshman year and let me tell ya, it really was a privilege. Nordy has doubles and some triples on each floor, and each room comes with its own TV, fridge, and microwave! Oh yeah, and it’s air-conditioned! The downside is the communal bathrooms, but since this is a newer dorm the bathrooms really are not that bad.  Also, if you are looking to join the music LLC, then welcome to the 3rd floor of Nordy! Also, check out the laundry rooms on every floor! This is one of the most, if not most, popular of University of Pittsburgh freshman dorms.
