16 Best Places To Visit In October In Europe

mm
October in Europe is a beautiful time of year, and there are so many great places to visit and see the foliage. Here are some!

Going on holiday during autumn is hard because it’s when places start to get cold and no one likes going on holiday during the cold weather. And because of this, it’s a lot cheaper to go away during October than say during the summer, you’re bound to find cheaper flights/train tickets and hotels. Here are a few places you could visit in October in Europe.

1. Rome, Italy

Rome is one of the most popular destinations to go in Europe and it’s no exception in October either. It’s not too cold during October but it’s not very warm either so it’s the perfect weather to go sightseeing and stop at local cafes for a cup of steaming coffee when it does get a little colder.

2. Lake District, UK

If you don’t feel like leaving the country then you can always go to Lake District for a relaxing weekend or if you’re more outdoorsy then you can go hiking. October in the UK usually means it’s cold in the morning but gets a little warmer during the day so you can wrap up warm for a hike in the morning then spend the rest of the day relaxing in the countryside.

3. Greek Islands

Greece will still be pretty warm during October so if you fancy a little bit warm then this is the perfect place to go in Europe. One of the more popular of the islands is Santorini which is so beautiful, you can go to the beach or see the villages. There are also other Islands you can visit which aren’t so far away.

4. Porto, Portugal

Portugal is an underrated country but it’s a beautiful place to visit especially during October. You should go and see the historical buildings or the markets where you can buy fresh food. It’s not even that far away from the UK, it’s around a three-hour flight which means you can visit over a long weekend.

5. London, UK

London is an amazing place to go all year around but during the autumn has to be my favourite time because it’s when you can go sightseeing and because it starts to get dark earlier you can do things like going on the London eye just before sunset and watch the city light up.

Prague is another historic city in Europe which you have to visit during October. The most iconic places to go have to be the old town and Charles bridge and pretty much everything is within walking distance.

7. Seville, Spain

Seville is one of the most beautiful cities to visit in Spain and a really fun place to go. Visit the ancient buildings with breath taking art, watch the famous Spanish flamenco dance and try some of the traditional food too.

8. Florence, Italy

Florence is another famous city in Italy besides Rome, and this would be a perfect place to go for a city break in Europe during October. There are attractions from old churches to beautiful art which you would love if you’re into the artsy sort of cities.
