1. Spend time with your family.

Don’t forget to spend time with your loved ones. As much as you want to go away, you will miss your parents and siblings. Being in a completely new environment can be really scary. At times you may get some serious homesickness, and your family wont be there. Put some time aside to really enjoy their company. We may not realize how much we really take it for granted sometimes.

4. Hang out with your high school friends.

Many of our high school besties that we’re so used to seeing for four years straight, five days a week, are going away to other colleges. Make the most of the time you have left together! It’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you later!

Going away to school is like moving away, except you’ll be back in a few months! Pack accordingly; make sure you buy all the necessary things you’ll be needing and make a list.

6. Connect with classmates you will meet your freshman year at SJU.

Do some research, and find out if SJU has a Facebook group for your graduating class. Here’s one to get you started. Make new friends! You all have something to relate to, and you wont be alone in the process.

7. Reach out to your roommate(s).

When you’re assigned a roommate, you usually know. Whether it’s a name or an email, reach out to him or her. This is someone you’ve never met before, and you guys are going to be living together. Get to know each other ahead of time, there’s so much to look forward to!
