8 Shoes To Step Into Summer With Style

The season may be coming close to an end, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still work on your summer wardrobe. Everything that you buy this year can always be used the next, after all. I would never anticipate throwing out these eight summer shoes. If you’re looking for the perfect summer shoes to complete your outfits, keep reading—I might have the ones for you.

1. Pastel Platform Sandals

Are these not the cutest sandals you’ve ever seen? What can I say, I’m a sucker for anything with a chunky heel. These summer shoes remind me of something that would come with a Polly Pocket. I mean that in the best way possible. They’re sure to add a pop of color to any outfit; I would love to see these paired with a white tube top dress, or maybe with a neutral tone maxi dress and sunglasses. I hate to use the term “Y2k,” but I’m going to here: these shoes are very Y2k. If that’s your personal style, you need these shoes in your closet.

2. New Balance New Releases

These sage New Balances were released last March, and I would do anything for them. Anything. Just look how cute they are! The color pairing of white and light green make them fit for the summertime. Puffy clouds and freshly mowed grass are what instantly come to mind. What’s great about these is that they’re versatile; you can get away with wearing them every season. While I would pair these New Balances with overalls and a tee shirt in the summer, I would style them with a white sweater and baggy jeans in the winter. Who doesn’t want a shoe that they can wear all year?

3. Brown Strappy Sandals

Brown strappy sandals are a must-have for summer shoes. They’re always on rotation for me, whether I’m wearing them to the beach or out to dinner. You can dress them up or down, depending on what you pair with them. For a formal look, I would suggest matching these with a white romper or a long beachy dress. For something a little more casual, throw on some linen pants and a tied-back halter top. I swear by my Steve Madden brown sandals, which I think I’ve owned since 2012. They’re not as high quality as they used to be, that’s for sure. Even after years of wear and tear, they’re my most reliable summer shoes.

4. Midnight Clover Classic Converse

Speaking of my most reliable shoes, I have to include my Midnight Clover Converse. Somehow I scored these at a vintage store for $15. I don’t know how I got so lucky—these shoes are everything. Maybe I just have a penchant for green and white sneakers, but I’m obsessed with these. I wear them wherever I go and always get compliments (now I sound like an ego maniac, oops). Strangely enough, I love how they look with denim. Yes, I’m well aware that everything goes with denim, but I feel like these with jeans are a power duo. Like the New Balances, these are great for the colder seasons, too. Truly a win-win.

5. Tabi Split-Toe Ballet Flat

These summer shoes have their fair share of controversy. I’ve heard from a lot of people that they look like the hooves of a cow. I, for one, think they’re adorable. Imagine these ballet flats with ankle-length frilly socks, a vintage maxi skirt, and a feminine blouse on top. That would be the summer look of my dreams (not to mention, the ideal outfit for a date). I’m pretty sure the brand Maison Margiela started this trend in footwear, but for cheaper options, try Etsy. The ones that Maison Margiela sells go for over $1,000. There are a lot of similar shoes on Etsy for under $100, which might align more with your price range.

6. Heeled Mules

I am a heeled mule lover, through and through. They’re the best summer shoes to wear for a fancier occasion. Think picnic dates, classy dinners, graduation parties, and all things summery and swanky. A dress would be the obvious choice for attire. I always wear my white heeled mules from Shoe Dazzle with a sleeveless corset dress and gold jewelry. It isn’t the most colorful outfit, but it makes me feel like a princess. For some extra flair, throw on a vibrant pair of heeled mules. I love the lime green ones in the picture above—hot or pastel pink is another great option.

7. See Through Heels

See Also

These summer shoes remind me of playing dress up as a kid. You know those plastic heels you would walk around the house in, the ones with the princesses on them? That’s what this is giving. But honestly, I think these are incredible. As I’ve stated before, I’m not HUGE into the Y2k aesthetic. Still, I would buy these shoes in a heartbeat. Imagine them with a graphic tee and a denim miniskirt. Style those with some square sunglasses, and you’re ready for Disney Channel. Kidding. I would wear that look in a casual setting, like when I’m heading to the mall or grabbing lunch with friends.

8. And Finally…Crocs

I miss the days of the VSCO Girl aesthetic. That was when I could parade around in a baggy shirt and Crocs without a care in the world. Life was simple back then, so why not bring those vibes back? Crocs are nostalgic for two reasons: the first being the VSCO trend, and the second being that I’ve worn Crocs since I was six. They make me think back to summers in Cape Cod and how I would spill ice cream right on my shoes. Lucky for me, every bit of gunk comes off of Crocs. Not only are Crocs durable, but they’re comfortable too. I don’t feel like I’m wearing anything when I have my Crocs on. Seriously, these are the superior summer shoes.

Whether you favor comfort (Crocs) or classiness (heels), there’s a summer shoe for everyone in this list. Some of these will even come in handy (footy?) when it gets colder out. Instead of spending your money on textbooks, hit up the mall for some new summer shoes. I’m just kidding, though. You need your textbooks more. Or do you…?
