5 Movies Coming Out Soon That You Need To See

The holiday season means colder weather, pretty lights, and new movies! December is the best month for new, exciting movies to be released in theaters. It may be a little overwhelming to decide which movies to see, so we’ve got you covered. Here are 5 movies coming out soon that you definitely need to see!

1. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Perhaps the most anticipated movie of the year is the final installment in the sequel Star Wars saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Fans will get to see the characters they’ve fallen in love with throughout the new movies, and enjoy them one last time on screen.

Rey and her trusty sidekicks are off to defeat the First Order and take down Kylo Ren one last time. Fans still have so many unanswered questions after watching the first two movies of the new trilogy, and they are hoping this movie will have the answers.

Star Wars fans of new and old will be able to come together to enjoy this movie. The older fans have their classic favorites like Chewbacca, C3-PO, R2-D2, and Princess Leia. Newer fans have everyones new favorites like Rey, Poe, Finn, and BB-8. This movie is definitely one for all the ages, which is one thing that makes all the Star Wars films so remarkable.

This movie is going to be a hot ticket, so make sure you buy them ahead of time. If you don’t want any spoilers, make sure you go to the midnight premiere. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters December 20th.

2. Cats

Although this movie was the subject of a lot of internet trolling, if you love musical theatre, this movie is one to watch. Cats brings Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic musical to the big screen, with some of your favorite stars!

Taylor Swift leads the star studded bunch along with James Corden, Rebel Wilson, and Idris Elba. Broadway fans and movie fans will come together to see this exciting film. Once it’s over you’ll be dancing and singing along to the soundtrack for days.

This is a great movie for the whole family to enjoy. There’s lots of music and laughs, but also an enticing storyline that people have fallen in love with through the musical. After you see it, you’ll want to throw your own Jellicle Ball.

Cats is due to hit theaters on December 20th.

3. Spies in Disguise

Have you ever wanted to see what Will Smith would be like in pigeon form? Lucky for you, Spies in Disguise has exactly that. Will Smith plays a smooth and suave super spy that spends his days saving the world. Tom Holland stars along side of him playing Walter, a not so smooth and suave scientist who is extremely smart, but a whole lot of awkward.

When a mishap happens and Will Smith’s character is transformed into a pigeon, the two must team up together to save the world from impending doom. This movie will definitely bring a lot of laughs, and is a great movie the whole family can enjoy.

Everyone will be enjoying their holiday breaks if they go see this movie. Tom Holland and Will Smith are great actors who bring a lot to the table, even in an animated film. Spies in Disguise is due to hit theaters December 25th.

4. Little Women

Little Women is the film adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s novel Little Women. Although this is the 8th film adaptation of the novel, this one will be like no other. The story follows four sisters, Jo, Amy, Beth, and Meg as they grow through changing times in the aftermath of the American Civil War.

This adaptation stars Saoirse Ronan as Josephine “Jo” March, Emma Watson as Margaret “Meg” March, Florence Pugh as Amy March, and Eliza Scanlen as Elizabeth “Beth” March. Other cast members include Laura Dern, Meryl Streep, and Timothee Chalamet.

Fans are so excited to see all of their favorite stars come together to tell the story of the beloved novel. It would be no surprise if this movie gets nominated for many awards come next award show season. Not only is the cast packed full, but the director Greta Gerwig is no stranger to creating amazing films. Just recently her film Lady Bird stole the hearts of movie fans, and people are still talking about it to this day. Everyone is expecting the reaction to Little Women to be just the same, if not more.

Little Women comes into theaters on December 25th.

5. Jumanji: The Next Level

The Robin Williams classic Jumanji was revamped when the spin-off Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released in 2017. The star-studded cast featuring Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Nick Jonas, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is back for the second installment of the spin-off series.

This movie will remind fans of the first spin-off, but this one has even more twists and turns than expected. The plot summary basically describes Spencer’s (Alex Wolff) return to the game, but this time his grandfather enters with him. His grandfather is played by none other than Danny DeVito, and he takes the form of the Rock in the game.

The trailer shows two full minutes of the Rock acting as if he were Danny DeVito and it is absolutely hilarious. This movie is definitely one to go see with a bunch of friends. I have a feeling everyone will be laughing even after the credits roll. Plus, it’s a great way to feel nostalgic if you love the original Jumanji.

Jumanji: The Next Level hits theaters December 13th.

With this list you’ll be able to pick exactly what movies you want to see this holiday season. Make sure to grab an extra large popcorn and bring some friends along, because you’ll be spending the whole month of December in the theaters! What movie are you excited to see?
