20 Signs You’re The Middle Child

I wasn’t always a middle child. I was living the high life of being the youngest for three years – like Stephanie Tanner from Full House – before my sister was born. I don’t remember it, but I’m sure it was fabulous. Then, I became the middle child. If you’re with me, middies, these are the 20 signs that you know you’re stuck in the crossroads like I am.

1. You’re always compared to your older sibling, which makes you stronger.

2. You both want and don’t want attention, depending on the mood you’re in.

If you want it, you make it happen. If you don’t, you’ll most likely end up being the observant child and staying out of the way.

3. Anything you do is considered “rebellious.”

4. You usually get ganged up on by both your older AND younger siblings.

Let’s face it, middies; we’re a really easy target.

5. The only way you get to do something is if you take your younger sibling with you.

Do you want to go out? Sure, but take your sister with you to wherever she needs to go, and while you’re at it, pick up some eggs and milk before you go.

6. Odds are you’re bound to get your sibling’s hand-me-downs.

Spot a top at the mall? Forget it. Your sister has some great tops collecting dust in her closet that are begging for attention.

7. You know how to share EVERYTHING.

8. You do weird stuff, just because you can.

9. You never get first pick.

It’s almost like getting picked last for second grade kickball.

Even though it probably isn’t exciting at all.
