Let’s face it. Being a fashion major has its major perks (pun intended), and also major downfalls. It is possibly the most glamorous, yet most difficult major one could pick. It constantly demands your utmost creativity from your over-worked brain, but it will always be the most rewarding. Keep reading for 15 things only a kent fashion major understands!

1. Everyone you know demands you to pick out their outfits, because apparently you are all of a sudden the fashion genius.

Of course I know best, but why didn’t you value my opinion so highly before I started college?!

2. Your eyes don’t hurt from hours of Netflix, they hurt from hours spent in Photoshop or Illustrator.

Binge watching Friends is always okay, but hours of making mood boards are not.

3. With so many people in your major, scheduling classes is like The Hunger Games.

May the best fashionista/o win. If you don’t schedule a class you need, you won’t graduate on time.

4. You dress to kill for your first week of class, and then realize comfort and an extra hour of sleep is way more important.

Let’s face it: we’ve all made it into fashion school for a reason. You don’t need to dress to prove you deserve to be there. You prove it with your amazing work ethic.

5. When people think being a fashion major is easy, and you can’t help but laugh in their face.

C’mon now. Don’t be silly.

6. Ordering yourself Jimmy Johns to the fashion building late night so you can cram to finish your project.

If you don’t eat immediately, you may fall asleep or pass out right then and there; nothing better than a sub to get the creative juices flowing.

7. The weekly mental break down and all nighter.

You adapt to these being a part of your lifestyle very quickly.

8. The frustration of finally understanding how much stores are ripping you off, because you know for a fact it didn’t cost that much to make.

Dear stores who do this: you know who you are, and you should feel guilty.

9. The realization that The Devil Wears Prada is a quite possible real life situation.

You may get a scary and intimidating boss, but your hard work will always pay off.

10. No matter what store you are in, you can’t help but notice the floor plan and merchandising scheme.

IKEA, you’ve got this one locked down. From all of us fashion majors, we appreciate you.
