15 Reasons Every College Student Loves November

November brings the transition into fall and ultimately winter; with its rain, cold weather, and short days. But, this month also brings some of our most memorable times of the year. I know that for those of us in college, this month will be bittersweet (definitely more of the sweet part though). As the precursor for all the stress finals will bring, November remains one of every college student’s favorite months, let me tell you why.

1. Holiday Flavors

We all know that the start of the holiday season comes well equipped with all of our favorite holiday flavors. Though pumpkin spice reigns supreme, let’s not forget Eggnog, Caramel Brulee, Christmas Cookie, and so many more. So let the halls be filled with delicious warm aromas and snag yourself a tasty latte!

2. Black Friday & Cyber Monday

Now that it’s November, we all know what that means, I’m talking sales! Yes, the time of the year when you and your college budget can actually afford things. As college students, most of us wait till November to buy those big ticket items we’ve had on our wish lists. Plus, we can finally afford gifts for our family – it’s never too early for Christmas shopping.

3. The School Library Stays Open Later

For most of us, finals are approaching and that means all nighters and sleeping in the library. Thankfully during the month of November, most campus libraries accommodate the busy schedule. If you have a ton of work and need resources, the library will be your ally. Late library hours for everyone!

4. Sweater Weather

Yes, ladies and gents, sweater weather has officially landed. It’s finally cold enough to wear sweaters; fashion’s greatest gift. Want to go to class in your favorite warm sweater and then sleep in that same warm sweater? Not an issue! Stay cozy and stylish with one garment – what more could you ask for?!

5. The Semester is Almost Over

It’s time to start planning out your winter break activities. November signals the end of fall semester. Now we can start to focus on planning those mini vacations, going home, and can just be glad we don’t have to worry about classes for a hot minute! With end of semester brings a sense of relief.

6. Thanksgiving Day

I smell free food. Probably one of the biggest reasons students love November would be Turkey Day. All that delicious food, a few days to relax, and of course, spending time with family. Also, it doesn’t hurt that most of us get to bring back some leftovers for the days ahead.

7. Holiday Parties

November wouldn’t be complete without friendsgiving. If you aren’t familiar with this offshoot of Thanksgiving, it’s basically a celebration of friendship. And food. Need I say more? Let the parties for the end of the semester begin!

8. Daylight Savings

Who doesn’t need an extra hour of sleep? I know this means it gets darker earlier, but as students, we need every bit of sleep we can get. Although it’s just one day of the year, that one extra hour of sleep at the beginning of November does wonders for the body!

9. No Shave November

That’s right: No Shave November (although this could be a bad thing for some!). Not only do students get to enjoy the liberation of not shaving, they also get to be part of a great cause – No Shave November raises awareness for prostate and testicular cancer.

10. Halloween Candy for Cheap

One great thing about November is that it comes right after all the Halloween festivities. What does that mean? That means huge bags of candy for really low prices. Let’s satisfy our sweet tooth and buy loads of candy, it’s a win-win situation.

As the cool weather approaches, so does the possibility of snow. For many of us, this signals that it’s time to hit the slopes. Snowboarding and skiing season has finally arrived. Nothing beats sharing a cabin with your friends and enjoying the snow.
