1. Get organized.
Begin to plan out the next semester. What are your goals? How do you plan to get through this semester. What does your workload look like? If you have anything that you can already put in your planner to be prepared, do it. If you have access to your syllabus for next semester make an assignment matrix.
2. Go through your closet.
What can you get rid of to make room for all the new clothes you will be getting for Christmas? Ask yourself three simple questions, and if the answer to any is “no,” get rid of it.
- Does it still fit me?
- Have I worn this in the last 6 months?
- Will I wear it in the next 6 months?
3. Write down your New Year’s resolutions.
Let 2016 be the year you conquer everything. Have a plan. Know how to achieve these goals and do it.
4. Plan ahead.
What internships or jobs do you need to start looking for during the summer? Do you need to look for plane tickets for Spring Break? New Year’s day is a great time to get a jump start on all of these little tasks that you’ve been putting on the back burner.
5. Spend time with family.
Chances are you head back to college tomorrow. They may have been bugging you all break, but starting tomorrow you wont see them again for awhile. Go see a movie. OR have a marathon in your house.
6. Update your social media.
Do you need to change your handles and bios? Should you delete any accounts? Are there any new forms of social media you should add? Take this opportunity to delete the negative people from your life – start 2016 fresh and drama free. What do you want your social media to say about you in 2016?
7. Read a book.
Read something that isn’t going to require an essay in a week. Chances are, you wont be able to do that again until May. Pick up a new book you have been dying to read and indulge. Cozy on up by the fire, set up shop at your favorite coffee shop, or just lounge in the comfort of your own bed with a good read and enjoy the solitude and peace.
8. Binge watch your favorite show.
Catch up on that TV show you started but never finished. Eat some junk food and guiltlessly enjoy doing nothing!
9. Spa day.
Get a lush bath bomb and relax for an hour. Then take a nice power nap in your most comfortable PJs. When you wake, maybe pamper yourself to a nice mani/pedi. You could even finish the day off with a new haircut – new year…new you!
10. Take a selfie.
Let everyone know that you’re ready to face the new year head on. Flash a pose and give 2016 something to talk about!
