10 Reasons To Go To College In Utah

Utah is an underrated state that contains many unique gems and opportunities for life-changing experiences. Here are 10 reasons why you should go to college in Utah.

1. The Great Outdoors

The state of Utah provides great opportunities to spend time outdoors and get reacquainted with fresh air and adventure. There are forty-five state parks and five national parks to visit. The national parks are Bryce Canyon, Zion, Arches, Capitol Reef and Canyonlands. The parks offer breathtaking views, fun hikes, and unforgettable experiences. If you’re not into hiking, other popular outdoor activities in Utah include canyoneering, rappelling, rock climbing, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, camping and much more.

2. The Diverse Weather

Utah is a state known for its rapidly and dramatically changing weather. Utahns get to experience the full range of weather — sometimes in the same week! You’ll get cold temperatures along with hot ones and experience snow, hail, rain, fog, lots of sunshine, and everything else in between. While some parts of Utah get several feet of snow during the winter, the southern region of Utah is dotted with palm trees! If you do not like the weather all you have to do is wait a day and chances are it will likely change!

3. The Fry Sauce

Fry sauce is a delicious condiment that is a mix of ketchup and mayonnaise. It is available in most fast food restaurants in Utah to put on French fries, chicken strips, and burgers, and once you try it—you’ll never go back to using plain old ketchup.

4. The Professional Sports

There are many different sports teams who call Utah home. There are big names such as the Jazz and Real Salt Lake for basketball and soccer fans, but there are also many minor and lower-level league teams that provide quality entertainment. Minor league baseball teams include the Salt Lake Bees, the Orem Owlz and the Ogden Raptors. There is even a mid-level hockey team, the Utah Grizzlies.

5. The Festivals And Celebrations

Many towns and cities across Utah hold unique festivals and celebrations. The summers especially are full of parades, rodeos, and fairs to attend! In fact, Cedar City (where Southern Utah University is located,) has become known as Festival City USA. The city’s most well-known festival is the Utah Shakespeare Festival.

6. The Holi Festival of Colors
