10 Last Minute Spring Break Ideas

Spring break is rapidly approaching the college scene. I don’t know about you, but I am beyond ready to relax in the sun without homework for 7 days. If you’re anything like me, you don’t have anything planned yet for your week of freedom because homework has controlled your life, leaving you no time to plan. Maybe finances kept you from booking that trip to Punta Cana, or procrastination kept you from ever reserving that Caribbean cruise – whatever the reason, hopefully you can find comfort in knowing that just because you don’t have anything planned, all hope for a great spring break isn’t lost. Here are 10 awesome last minute spring break ideas.

1. Take a road trip in your state.

Whether you’re staying on campus or going home, taking a road trip just a couple hours away from your current location will give you the feeling of being on vacation. Grab your siblings or roommates and go on a spontaneous adventure. What is the most commonly visited tourist attraction in your state? Go check it out.

3. Find a local concert or festival.

Look up what kinds of events are going on around the area you are in. Chances are there are tons of local bands playing around town – who knows, garage bands might be your new favorite thing? There also might be some kind of festival going on – perfect for those college students looking for last minute spring break ideas. Phoenix has a chocolate festival and fishing tournament right around the time of my spring break!

4. Go camping.

Every state has somewhere that you can enjoy the great outdoors. Grab a tent, hammock, some matches, snack foods and head to the nearest mountain or lake. Enjoy some quality you-time. Having nature all to yourself can be one of the most therapeutic experiences ever. But of course, if you can convince your friends to join – even better!

5. Find a new coffee shop.

If you’re a college student, chances are you are either a tea or coffee drinker, and you’ve most likely been to the majority of the coffee shops in your area. You probably even have a favorite one where all the workers know your order. Well, for one of my favorite last minute spring break ideas…I encourage you to grab a new book and find a coffee shop that you have never been to.

6. Volunteer work.

You won’t be making any money, but volunteer work is rewarding in a way that goes way beyond monetary value. Finding a local animal shelter or a children’s hospital and giving back to the community is a great way to make the time fly and have fun. It will also boost your resume.
